Question about Sony SDM N80 (Gray) 18.1" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

My Sony SDM N80 screen has turned yellow!

Everything white on my monitor's screen has turned a rather sickly shade of yellow, and every other color is now a yellower shade of itself. When it began a couple days ago, it was an intermittent problem that a reboot could fix, but now it seems to be in a constant state of yellow. Is it shot or can it be saved? It's seven years old but I still love it. Thanks!

Well, I have 2 of these monitors and one began acting in a similar fashion right before the cable went bad. I acquired a replacement from another person with a broken monitor but I believe this site sells them too (but they aren't cheap).

If the picture disappears from the screen and the
1 (power) indicator is green
1
Turn off the 1 (power) switch and disconnect the
video signal cables from the monitor.
2
Turn the monitor on by pressing the 1 (power)
switch.
If all four color bars appear (white, red, green, blue), the monitor
is working properly. Reconnect the video signal cables and check
the condition of your computer(s).
If the color bars do not appear, there is a potential monitor failure.
Inform your authorized Sony dealer of the monitor's condition.
Be sure to note the model name and serial number of your
monitor. Also note the make and model of your computer and
graphics board.

Monitor color settings not being maintained

Sorry to hear you're having this issue, Josh. To clarify, you can get the proper colors if you set them manually, correct? If so, that rules out the possibility of a screen issue or a problem with the video card. I hope for your sake this is a new monitor for you (or at least one that would still be covered under warranty), for it sounds like it's a logic issue in the monitor itself that prevents saving of the proper settings as well as the distortion of the presets. I would return it if possible for a replacement/refund, as they seem to be a quality product...it just looks like you got a defective one. Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you, but good luck! :)
