I cleaned the print head as shown in the video. I'm getting a little bit of yellow out but its' very faint. Tried printing brown, got purple. Also see some striations in color.

  • mchristym Nov 24, 2010

I did all this cleaning; still doesn't print yellow (very vary faint) What does the driver have to do with this?

  • mchristym Nov 24, 2010

I've already re-installed the driver a couple of times. What if that make no difference?

When I print a yellow box (PowerPoint) I get a box of yellow stripes (but the yellow is light)

Have you tried cleaning the Printhead unit? if not, remove all the cartridges, uninstall the printhead and clean the nozzles with Printhead cleaning kit or you can use the tap water. Let me know if the problem persists after this. Good luck. Thanks for using FixYa.

If it shows a little sign of improvement after cleaning, then you need to do it again, but this time not only with tap water. Submerge the printhead unit into a tub of hot water, don't submerge it complete, but the nozzle portion (Bottom), and clean it so that not a trace of clogged ink is left. After this is done, reinstall the unit. Check the yellow cartridge and make sure no clogged/dried ink is left on the nozzle, (it's possible).

If you've already replaced the cartridge with a new one, then there's nothing much we can do instead of cleaning the printhead. In rare cases, drivers issue, but that will come next after the cleaning.

The device driver regulates everything, to print or to scan or to communicate the printer with the computer or to give out the signals of the data to be printed. Well uninstall the driver and the complete Canon software from your computer. Reinstall everything after the computer is restarted. Also, once again check the yellow cartridge, place the nozzle on a soft tissue and see if the ink leaks out or not. If it does, there's no problem with it.

If it's not the printer itself, then reinstalling or updating the drivers will definitely fix the issue (since we've already tried with the printhead and the cartridge).

    All the best..

    Happy Thangsgiving Day.:-)

Aww.. I am out of ideas. Even If replacing the cartridge didn't help, I am afraid. Will you please try Copying a Yellow document? or just picture with yellow color. This is only to verify that there's no communication issue between the printer and the computer.

Please print a copy of all combination, for example texts of different colors, printing only one color is sometimes not possible as the ink couldn't be discharged with the required amount. This is a normal issue with almost all inkjet cartridges. And most of all, the ink inside the particular cartridge will be out after few prints.

Replaced all three color cartridges (they were low), now the yellow doesn't work at all. Ran deep cleaning several times and tried a different yellow cartridge. No luck!

It insists there is a Cartridge problem on the Printer............ In this Case take out the Paper from the Paper Feed Tray........ Unplug the Power Supply from the Printer.......... Remove both the Cartridges from the Printer.......... Now take a size 10 Envelope fold it so that it should become like a thin long strip........ Now Insert that Envelope on the left side corner of the Printer and move it from right to left and left to right as fast as u can for about 10 times.......... Now Insert the Ordinary Papers onto the Printer and insert both the catridges and Turn on the Printer...... Blinking Stopped...........Issue Resolved....... Still Blinking: Remove both the Cartridges take a Paper Towel turn the catridges direction so that u can see a Copper plate with small boxes on it....... Just wipe it twice or thrice with the Paper Towel.......... Now insert it and Power on the Printer and see whether the Lights are still blinking if it is still blinking...... Get the Printer Replaced!!!!!

Good Luck!!!!!

I have cleaned and deep cleaned the printer a number of times but when I do a print check the yellow line does not print neither does the black line under it print. When I print anything else the yellow...

If a line doesn't print, the ink is out of the cartridge for that inkjet cartridge color. Replace the cartridge. Deep cleaning can use a lot of ink up at a time.

Printed pages have blank lines in the print for the red, blue and yellow colors. Have tried cleaning and deep cleaning several times. No change.

If cartridge is good, prime and allign, remove cartridge and clean copper contacts with contact cleaner, if all fails replace printer.

Cannon mp830 prints all colors but yellow

Your print head is likely toast.

The only way to be sure is to test out your purge unit (aka capping assembly).

This assembly provides the suction when you use the cleaning function. One test is simply to install a new oem ink cartridge, do a bunch of cleanings and see that it is actually emptying the ink out of the cartridge (look in the cartridge and see that the ink is being used up).

Since you said you have tried several cartridges, I would hope this means you know 100% for sure that the ink level in the cartridge is going down (you cannot rely on the level indicator in your driver software).

Since your purge unit is working, then your print head is either so clogged that the purge unit isn't strong enough to clean it, or the print head is defective.

Remove the print head and inspect the bottom. Give the bottom surface (and no more) a rinse under very hot running water. Blot the bottom surface on paper towel and see if there is any yellow ink coming off in the paper towel. If you can find a tube that will fit over the yellow ink well in the print head (the part that contacts the ink cartridge) try and force water through the tube and see if a fine mist comes out the bottom of the print head. If yes, then the head is not clogged. If no, leave the print head to soak for several hours. A saucer with a small amount of water in it will do. Just let the bottom surface of the print head contact the water (the cap off of a can of spray paint usually works for this)

Let the print surface soak for a few hours, or even over night. Reinstall the print head and give it a deep clean. If it still does not work, call your local Canon repair shop and check the price of a replacement head.

All colors print blue

You did the right thing. Sometimes a bad printhead or a bad cartridge will cause a leak and will damage both. Good job!
