Question about 1995-1997 Chevy 1500 Truck Ignition Starter Alarm Switch

Hi , i lost the remote for the alarm to my truck and nobody carries it no more the truck is a 1997 chevrolet silverado and the alarm was purchased the same year

Is this an aftermarket alarm? you can look on ebay see if you might get lucky and find the remote. other than that all you can really do is remove alarm or upgrade it to a newer unit

93 chevy lumina. alarm went off and car wont start. lost remote disconected battery re conected, but car will not start what can be done


I take it your alarm has remote start? If so, pull the panel above the drivers feet and look for where the yellow "start" wire has been cut and each end will be ran separately into your alarm. reattach both ends of the yellow wires.

you should be able to however im not sure if it is associated with the on board system if all else fails reconnect it and maby change the batteries in the remote for a starting point

Security alarm continues to go off every 2 -3 minutes


Try to 'reset' the truck's computer by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. The alarm may go off when you reconnect the battery. Hit the alarm button on your remote after you reconnect the battery. Hope this helps.

each door latch has a sensor one of those could be bad ( the ajar switch) Needs to be hooked up to a scanner at a dealership or a local mechanic may have a scanner that could help
