Instruction on how to replace the dryer belt on your Whirlpool dryer are provided at the link with photo's of the job, a set of hand tools will be needed, if you are not somewhat mechanically skilled please do not attempt this, and always disconnect the power first!

I need to replace my serpentine belt

Its very easy, If you look in your manual there should be some instructions there, otherwise you can find the routing diagram on the bottom side of your hood. Read that and you will be able to find were your serpentine belt tensioner is located . It is located in line with your pulleys and usually has a flat surface for the belt to lay against . You will need to route your belt as shown on the diagram i have here . tension it like in the picture. Make sure you dont let the tension off until all fingers are out of the way. Hope this helps you. I can explain further if need be! serpentine-belt-wiring-diagram-for-2002-toyota-camry.jpgI

How do i get tension in my new dyer belt

All dryers have a belt tensioner installed. If your belt came off before opening the dryer up, the tensioner is laying at the bottom more than likely. It has a pulley on it for the belt and the pulley should be replaced as well

The dryer is plugged in and blows really hot but the drum does not turn- any idea where to start

The dryer has a belt that goes around the drum and is driven by a motor in the bottom of the mach. Open the back or lay it down on a bucket on the front and look for the belt to be off or broken.

Motor is running but not turning drum to dry the clothes. We removed the back of dryer to see if maybe belt slipped or broke but can not see any belts and do not want to start removing a lot of screws...

Look from the rear, near the bottom. The belt wraps around the drum, and near the bottom is a tensioner that keeps tension on the belt. If it is broken, you'll see it laying on the floor of the dryer.

Hi. The dryer drum belt has broken . Need help in replacing it. It is a Whirlpool 3397618Rev.B and sems to be a 1999 product. Looks like some type of pulley might also have broken. Bonnie

2cb8663.gif This picture may help it shows the position of the belt tensioning pulley (#53) . The bottom of the spring goes into a slot in the bottom of the dryer cabinet and spring tension against the belt holds it in place. Thus the reason why it was probably just laying there when you opened the cabinet.

Dryer belt broke and the wheel tying the belt to the motor somehow come loose and was laying on bottom of dryer when I went to replace the belt, need schematics to figure out how to put wheel back in...

Below the motor pulley is two sets of parallel slots and some notches running perpendicular to them. Look at the tensioner, the piece that is laying on its side. Notice opposite of the roller is a flat surface with flanges that line up to the holes below the motor pulley. Ok? Alright now we want to scoop the front into one of those notches and it will hold. Now the belt goes over this roller on the tensioner first pushing slightly away from the motor pulley causing enough slack to loop it around the motor pulley so it goes over then around. Have someone hold the drum and steady so you can reach in, ps make sure the dryer is unplugged.:)
Ok here is a site I use to get illustrated, Look it over and punch in your model so you can see roughly how to get er done. Notice item 53 this is on my dryer, use www.apdepot.com.

BELT WON'T TURN THE DRUM

there is a tensioner pulley as well as the drum and motor
It hooks into a slot, usually on the floor of the case, and has a spring that pulls it against the belt to tension the belt.
Broken belts have been known to knock the tensioner out of place, it should be sitting on the floor of the case as should its spring.
There is usually ony one slot for it to sit in, self evident if you know to look for it
loop the belt around the drum.
slide the belt down the drum directly over the motor pulley
loop the belt around the motor pulley
pull the tensioner pulley hard to the end of its travel against its spring
wrap the belt around the tensioner pulley
release the tensioner so the spring pulls it against the belt
rotate the drum by hand to ensure the belt is aligned and does not pull offf the pulleys
reassemble case
dry clothes
its easier than it looks seeing a broken belt in the bottom of the case.
fd5c779.jpg tensioner may be on the bottom run pushing up, or on the top run pulling down
