Question about Sunfire Cinema Grand Signature 400 seven 7-Channel Amplifier

Open Question

I have a Sunfire Cinema Grand Signature Series II power amplifier (5X425) that will not power up. I have checked electrical hookup and speaker connections and they are OK. Tried plugging into other outlets and it just will not power up. Was working yesterday. Called factory and they do not repair this model anymore. Can you offer any suggestions and/or places that might repair the unit? Thank you. Gary Fuqua

SOURCE: Hello all...I have a series 1 Cinema Grand 200/5

maybe a coupling or dc filter has gone bad, unpolarised ceramic or any other type, usually disc type or surface mounted. they are connected in series on the audio line. one easy way to find out is test the capacitors whether they are shorted (the ones on the left channel). or u can shift filter capacitors left to right one by one to find out the culprit.

SOURCE: My Sunfire Cinema Grand used

Crackling is not good. Sounds like it needs to be serviced if all of the connecting cables are in good working order. It can be repaired by Rita's Vintage Audio in WA state. They are expensive but good.

You need to now the RMS for a true capacity of your speakers and your amp.

I would say you are OK, with a margin, but if you turn the amp to max and blow the speakers, please dont call me.

Yes you can,,,,,BUT the output labelling on the AMP will tell you where you can connect the 4ohms or the 8ohms....please read these labels and connect the 4ohm speakers to the 4ohm terminals, and the 8ohms to the 8ohms terminals...

If you intend to connect the 4ohm and the 8ohm speakers in parallel then the output impedance terminals you use should be the 4ohm ones.

If there is no labelling showing any 4ohm output terminals then its best if you dont use the 4ohm speakers at all....just connect the 8ohm to the 8ohm terminals...you dont mention any crossover networks inside the speaker boxes or if you have tweeter speakers... so just stick to the basics above at present....
