Question about Kitchen Ranges

3 Answers

I have a Bosch Dishwasher, M# SHV46C03UC/21. As soon as the machine calls the circulating motor to start washing, it pump and fills, pumps and fills and nothing happens. It doesn't turn on to wash the dishes. I changed the computer, and I'm still having the same problem. There is no water in the sump. What can be my problem?

Wow, usually I would think that the computer would have fixed it, since one would think it's what controls the drain solenoid, and that should be the timer circuit My friend has a bosch, but I've never had it apart, so I'm not sure about their system, which is most likely more sophisticated than a usual one.
However, this is a top of the line unit, and I would recommend getting an authorized Bosch repair person to fix it.
Here's their support site:
http://www.bosch-home.com/us
If you elect to fix it yourself, the following diagrams are for your model, and should help:

Good luck, and hope this helps.

You said that you changed the computer. I have part number 1102296 for the control unit. Is this what you are calling the computer?

I couldn't find the model # listed on the website for bosch.com under dishwashers. Most model #s seem to start with SHE or even the SHV ones didn't include the provided M#.

However, I did find FAQ for a similar model # and it said that one can contact customer service with the number on a sticker on the inside of the door.

To Contact Customer Service

With the dishwasher door open, locate the label on the right side

of the door. There you will fi nd the:

• Model Number

• Serial Number (FD#########)
• Toll Free Customer Service Phone Number
---
I think, though, if you changed the computer already, that you went this route to get the part from Bosch.com or equivalent.

Could it be the motor then that pumps the water through the arms that have holes in them.

I had to change one on an old Whirlpool dishwasher that I bought for $100 and paid about $89 for the motor in the 1990s.

The motor would leak due to freezing because it was close to a door that was uninsulated.

If the pump doesn't work, then the motor may be bad, or the wire to it is not continuous, from the computer to the relay to the motor.

Since you already changed the computer, then that's unlikely to be the problem.

I would check to see if there is current going to the motor with an autoranging multimeter set to AC with clips backprobed (don't short it out) to the motor harness connection when you operate the washer.

I'm thinking of a relay, a motor, or wiring in between since the new computer should have good logic in it.

Machine starts fills Ok but when it clicks on to start the wash pump, nothing happens, I can hear a faint hum. When cancelling wash and starting new wash it pumps out ok too. After rinse cycle it indicates...

sounds like your main circulation pump is not working, if it is humming when it is supposed to start, sounds like it is getiing power, so probably not the control circuits, can you measure voltage to pump?
if you are getting 120 there, probably pump motor is dead

Asko 1875 had a new main board, wax motor and temp thermistor fitted 6 months ago. now thw machine pumps in the water but does not wash what could be the problem

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description and provided the dishwasher is indeed 1) an Asko 1875 and 2) filling with water, draining, heating, but not circulating, It sounds like a busted wash impeller within the main motor/circulation pump, unfortunately.

First though, do you hear a quiet sound of the wash motor starting once the unit has completed filling with water ? And be sure the unit is actually filling with water, this image below indicates the normal water level to look for....

macmarkus_284.jpg

The pump will be super quiet if the wash impeller is broke as I suspect it may be...almost like a fountain, since the Asko are very quiet under normal conditions. You will have to either get right down with your ear to the bottom or run it with the door open by activating the door switch with a screw-driver and look for visual/audible clues.

If so that is a tell tale of no wash action yet the motor runs, hence broken impeller. If you don't hear anything it may be a wire come off the main motor/circulation pump...but not likely.

This unfortunately is common with Asko built dishwasher`s and it is a case of being a victim of their own design.

What happens typically is the ball-bearings from the upper rack holders ( which are plastic, hence fatigues due to heat and fall apart ) come out making their way into the sump, hence breaking the wash impeller from the motor.

Let me know what you find and I'll try and help you move forward from there. If you need direction to remove the circulation motor and pump I can do that, but it is a pretty involved repair and requires pulling the unit from the cabinet...you may opt to call in a pro.

I'll watch for your reply and try to help in any manner I can.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

When the dishwasher starts or when water starts to enter dishwasher there is a loud noise.

ther could be something stuck n your drain pump.
the way it works is first the unit drains, the it fills, then it start to wash. now if you hear this noise after it drains then it could be your water valve or after it fills when it starts to wash it could be your circulation pump. it depends on what cycle you hear the noise. let me know if this help by posting 4 thumbs up for this answer, thanks
