I don't recommend reinstalling the windows, which can lead a large amount of data loss. I have a good way to reset it when forgot ones admin password on windows 7. Download windows password reset 9.0 from http://www.reset-windows-password.com/reset-windows-7-password.html and burn it onto a CD, then reset the password with it.

Four days ago, I had an embarrassing experience that I forgot Windows administrator password. As there is so much important data on my desktop, I can not reinstall Windows. However, I thankfully found a useful tool Windows password Seeker at about.com PC support channel. I download the program from passwordseeker.com and followed step-by-step instructions. Finally, I removed Windows password successfully. http://www.passwordseeker.com

As far as not being able to enter BIOS, it could be locked with a password.

I forgotten my magic desktop pass word..how i reset it? i want to reset new password...

if it dont already have a administrator password. reboot desktop and keep pushing f8 until you see safemode option.try clicking on the administrator. if not password protected then login go to user accounts and click on change an account, then go to the account with the password then remove password. if it does have a password either have to format it or remove hard drive and instal into another deskot as the secondary and take over user rights for that drive to retrieve all your important info then reinstall in desktop and reinstall windows. or if recovery partition do a recovery during boot

Forgot my administrative password

1
When you are booting up your computer, you need to press F8 in order to get into the per-windows start-up.

2
Once you are in this stage , you will need to boot your computer into safe mode. This will give you access to the basic programs of Windows XP.

3
Once you have booted into safe mode. You will have to access the administrator account and create a new account or you can reset your admins password from this location.

Thanks.

Lost password after reinstallation

There are a couple methods which you can try:

When the computer first boots Windows you can press F8 to access an advanced boot menu.

From there you can choose to boot the computer in "Safe Mode" which changes the system start-up mode.

There should be a hidden user that appears as "Administrator" that you can select...

(When Windows is installed for the first time there is an option for the "Administrator" password. This password is not required and is usually left blank. If you left the password field blank then clicking on user will log you in automatically. Otherwise, you're required to enter the original password you choose to protect the system.)

Log-in into windows as "Administrator" and create a new user in the control panel that you can log-in to the system normally with.

Restart the computer and log-in under the newly created profile to regain access to your system.

If you can't log-in under your user or the administrator profile because you forgot both passwords you will have to do an advanced recovery process, or wipe the system completely.

(Here is a link for a Linux Boot CD image, burn to a disc and boot to change the Administrator password in Windows XP/Media Center/Server 2003 Systems.)

If this doesn't work you can boot to an alternative recovery disk, Windows CD/DVD, partitioning software, or third party password recovery tool.

When all else fails, you can delete and create a new partition; then you would have to run the Windows setup again to recover your Operating System and drivers.

Need to reset the administrative password for my windows xp desktop

Hi there Allenia,

To reset the Administrator user, you need to right click your My Computer and choose "Manage". The Computer Management window will open. Expand the Local Users and Groups from the left panel and click Users. Right click the Administrator user shown on the right and click Set Password. Click OK. That's it!

Please let me know if this helps. Good luck!

I forgot my password to login to windows XP Pro on my personal laptop. How can I bypass it?

First try is to hold down CTRL + ALT + DEL and try typing in as the user "Administrator" with no password, if this does not work do not worry, it only works on half the systems anyway. Of course the next try is rebooting into safe mode by pressing F8 during the boot but before the windows screen, when it loads up safe mode it actually gives you an administrator option as a login, usually works. The last and third way is to actually use the windows xp operating system disc and boot to it and run a windows repair, suggest talking to a technician if you do this one. Once you get into windows just go to control panel from the start menu and open up user accounts and then access the account that needs the password to be changed and change it.
