Question about Frigidaire GLTF1670A Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Leaks water We have had the Frididaire Gallery Heavt Duty front loading stackable washer and dryer for about 7 years. Recently the washer started to leak. We know it is not coming from the door, but somewhere underneath. It is starting to rot the wood in our basement ceiling underneath the floor. I have to put a towel in front of the washer at all times and it only takes a load to two to completely soak the towel. Also, the dryer leaves brown streaks on some clothes with just about EVERY load, causing me to have to treat them first, then re-wash items constantly. I'm ready to throw them out and so is my husband, but I really love them and hope there is a solution.

Okay, to check for your source of a leak, start by removing the 2 screws on the lower front panel of the machine. This will let you see inside. As you are running the washer, watch where the water is coming from. If from the front, you may have a hole in your boot (the black rubber up front) If so, you may need to replace the boot (the part comes with step by step instructions). If coming from the middle, your tub seal may be going bad. A quick fix is tighten the 12 or 14 bolts that go all of the way around your tub. This will only be a temporary measure. The tub will have to be taken apart and the seal replaced. (this is a 1 1/2 hour - 2 hour procedure for 2 technicians) If it leaking from the rear, you may have a bad tub bearing. You can remove the back panel to be certain, but usually a bad bearing will be accompanied by a roaring noise durring the spin cycle. As for the dryer leaving brown marks? Usually the front seal has been dammaged. Run your finger around the front of the drum (where it meets the front panel) the gap should be about the same all of the way around. If it is not, you may need a new front seal. (this is much cheaper and less time consuming on the dryer compared to a seal on the washer)

How remove wash machine top

On these machines there are no screws holding the top down, get under it and pop it up using a tool that won't scratch the finish.
First I would try removing the front panel to see if it could be done through the front. Its only held by two screws in the bottom.
Good Luck

I have a Frigidaire Gallery Stackable that has a screechy dryer

Sounds like it is worn out. Get a parts diagram and take it apart and see what parts are missing or worn out. The belt is probably coming apart and that is the black stuff. There are several plastic wear plates and a bearing/bushing for the drum, plus the belt idler and all these can wear out. The motor could also have a bad bushing in it but more than likely that will require a new motor as they don't usually sell just the bushing or end caps.

Frididaire FLSE72GCSA stackable washer dryer

It is possible that the belt has come off or the lid latch is no functioning.

First unplug the machine then remove the two screws from the front lower edge of the washer.

The front panel will lift up towards you at a 45 degree angle. The latches will release than the entire front panel can be place out of the way.

The lid latch can be seen on the underside of the top panel to the right, check that the wires are not loose.

You will see a large motor mounted upright near the base this should have the belt around the pulley to the bottom of the tub assembly. Check for obvious damage

Outside of this you will need a repairman for help.

Frigidaire Front Loader Won't Drain

if your washer is digital or with elecronic control board check the the motor control board located at the bottom difiniely you have to call a tech to confirm that. other model like wd5595 and wd 8095 has the same problem and it is the motor control unit that always fails.
