SOURCE: I have a Schwinn "95 Mesa GS. Looking for

If these are replaceable than you would you have to look it up by the brand of shocks.

Ex. Rockshocks Duke 1995. The replacement parts are specific to the make/ model and year. All the shock companies have a customer service messaging service so they can you give you advice on your particular shock.

Lowering the bike

Hi, Anonymous here are some options for lowering your bike depending on your needs and wallet:
1. Rear shock lowering kit.
2. Front fork lowering kit.
3. Shorter rear shocks.
4. Shorter front forks.
5. Thinner padded seat.
6. Lower profile tires.
Please be aware that some of these options or a combination of options will require a shorter kickstand or your stock one modified. For more information about your issue, please visit the websites below. Good luck and have a nice day.

My RST front fork seals leak. Are they hard to replace? Where should the fork adjustment be for riding around town, and easy, mild off-roading? (I weigh 260 lbs). Can I raise the height of the goose neck...

You could find instant answers to every one of those questions using a search engine and there would be videos.

Regarding the stem search "adjust (or "raise") threadless stem"

Preload on a shock is up how the bike sets down with you on it. "bicycle shock preload"

"replace bearings on RST shock"

One example: http://www.bike-manual.com/brands/klein/om/assets/pdfs/07rst_forks_eng.pdf

Don't mess with steering hardware on your bike unless you understand it. Your life depends on those bolts.

Trying to get the crank set off of the shaft. I have the dust cap off, Im not sure about the nut i guess. Does it take a large allen wrench and twist out? I have a Mesa Gs

after u take off out the bolt ( or nut) ,you need a specialty tool that screws into where the dust cap was then you tighten the bolt in the center..and it pulls it off the crank...they were about $10 thirty years ago, not sure about now good luck

We have a sidewinder 2.6 and the pedals are loose. So the company sent us a bottom bracket to install. But how do we get the assembly apart to install new part

Most bottom brackets require a special tool to remove them without damaging them. Unless you are going to do a lot of bicycle repairs your best bet would be to take the bike and part to a shop and have an expert do it for you. That type of service should not cost much.

Bad crank bearings can move crank arms small amount.

That would depend on the style of bearings (loose ball or caged balls vs sealed bearings) and possible bottom bracket damage.

Either way, a Bike Shop mechanic would probably need to assess it for you. Special tools are usually involved.

How to disassemble crank bearing on Schwinn Mesa Mountain Bike

You wil need a couple of special tools, or be fairly creative with the tools you have.
  1. remove the dustcovers in the crank arms at the crank axle
  2. loosen the crank retaining nut/bolt.
  3. thread in a chank puller and pull the crank arms.
  4. remove the lock ring on the adjustable side of the crank axle (Requires lock ring wrench)
  5. remove adjustable bearing cup.
  6. remove axle and bearings
  7. replace or repair as needed.
Once you have it opened up ou can determine if you need new bearings or crank axle.
to assemble, reverse above procedure, insuring bearing play is minimalized.

Hope this helps.
