Question about Whirlpool Ultimate Care II LSQ9564J Top Load Washer

3 Answers

I have an ultimate care II washer, it starts to wash and sputters. Its intermittent and then it stops all together. Washer will start back again only when I change out the start capacitor. I have replaced the motor (new), & new timer. What could be causing the washer to operate intermittent? I am getting 110v. HELP!! Thanks in advance

NO neither one of those are the issue. I have a new pump on the machine and coupler can only go on a machine one way. I still have the intermittent problem.

Had new pump already on machine. No problem with the couplers.

Runs smooth for about 3 minutes when the run capacitor is replaced with a good one, then stops completely. Will run for for a few minutes after each change of the capacitor, then nothing. I have done the wire shaking thing couple two / three times. Been tracing wires and found no issues. I have replaced everything but the transmission and the clutch.

Still runs intermittent. I have put a new capacitor in and did the wire shaking thing a couple two/three times. Tracing the wires and have not found any issues with them so far. Still have the same issue, will run a few minutes, ****-sputter a few times then quit all together. Will not start back until I change out the capacitor.

Took the motor from the transmission before I posted the problem. I still had the issue, runs for a few minutes and then shuts down. I have tried everything but replacing the transmission and clutch. Traced the wires for shorts -none- Still giving me the intermittent run after a few minutes and then goes dead.

The voltage is correct on the machine. I have been tracing wires and I finally found the problem. Faulty wire in the molex connector attached to the motor. Thanks

Start cap only works in the start and when you change it /i think it the time between the chang that make it work again . if the motor is new but working too hard it would stop on the over load and when it cools it work . try this remove the motor but leave it hook up to wiring harnes . and see if the motor will keep runing with out the trans load . if it does then you have a mach load and the motor cannot handle it so it shuts down . . other way to test is with a volt / amp meter . when the motor starts if the watage is too high motor will quit . or if amps are higher the normal the motor will quit . . try these and i hope they help mm feed back pls .. mm

if you have removed motor form the trans and it only runs for three min then shuts down / we would have to say there is no load on motor so trans can not be problem . and it's a electrical problem. have you cked the amount of power at the plug and is the pollarty proper . does it damage the cap ? or are you able to use a old one to get it to go again ? I would think that three min is enough time for the motor to get hot enough to shut down and when it cooled it would go again . i know that you have a new motor and timer . how much currant (watage or amps is the motor drawing ? and what is the line voltage. ? need to know .. mm

Does it really run after changing out this capacitor, or is it still sparodic? if so then you have an intermitant connection somewhere in the unit or the capacitor should be tested(depending on machine & age ) of the unit as a capacitor can break at the connections and fail, carefully check and wiggle these connections first and see if this solves your problem

You must have a problem with the pump. Some times sand gets in the pump and causes it to overheat, This makes the motor stall. Their could also be a small item of clothing in the pump.
If you installed the motor coupling too tight against the tranny or motor it can cause them same symptoms you are describing. It has to be one of them 2 problems.

I have whirlpool ultimate care II and sometimes it stops working during washing, sometimes it wont start. now the only way it sometimes starts is when I switch the load size a few times, and then it will...

It seems a lot like a timer issue. Advice to you is the next time it stops just tap or knudge the timer knob, if it starts up then you just found your problem.

The washing machine at my church stops in the middle of a cycle. When I "jiggle" the timer it starts again and works for a while and then stops again.

The timer probably has dirty/corroded/loose contacts or it has loose wire connections to it. Needs to be removed to assess.

    More info, let me know.

    Washer stopping mid-cycle

Push down on lid. You may have a bad lid switch. Start machine and press the switch down with something like a screwdriver and see if the motor runs.
