Try unplugging the router for 1-2 minutes, then plugging it back in. This will allow the router to reset its connections and should improve its performance. Also, try relocating the router to a more central location and pointing the antenna away from walls or other sources of interference.
Please let me know how you make out.

Have you reset the modem first then the router, after doing this restart computer. If you still can't get online: I would first bypass your router or hard wire (Plug Ethernet cable into router or modem) To make sure your computer is able to surf the internet. If you are able to get online, then i would go to Network & Sharing center and on the left side click on (Vista) "Manage Network Connections" and on (7 & 8) click on "Change adapter setting" - Left click on 'Wireless Network Connection' first click on diagnose and see if Windows can fix the issue. If it fixes the isse then your good to go. If it does not then Left click on 'Wireless Network Connection' and go to 'properties' - Check to make sure there is Check mark on -Internet Protocol Version 4 (Tcp/Ip4)- Highlight this (TCP/IP4) and click on Properties. You should have a dot on the Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS Server address automatically. Try this first and if does not work let me know please put in what Windows your using and what browser and message your getting? And if you can get online by local area connection which is Ethernet hard wired connection?

Wired nor wireless connections for my ps3 wont work

if you setup your wireless in adhoc mode like useing the pc wirless it wont work because ps3 doesnt see adhoc wireless.

and for the ethernet connection is the pc setup right. you have to enable internet sharing on the accuall interface that has internet..
If local area connection 1 is connected to internet and local area connection 2 is plugged into ps3 then under local area connection 1 settings you have to set share this connection and in the drop down menu select local area connection 2. other than that you need to buy a router.

My linksys wrt54GC stops working when connect internet cable

There might be a reason that the default gateway of your router and the internet are same.So first connect your router to any one of the computer and open the router page by typing 192.168.1.1 (username should be left blank and password-admin).Then on the basic setup page change the Local IP address to 10.10.10.1,scroll down and click save settings. Now power off your router and connect internet cable to internet port of the router.Switch on the power of router and now try to go online. If you are unable to go online then connect your computer directly to the modem and download the new firmware from www.linksys.com/support and connect your computer then to the router, upgrade the firmware of the router and try to go online by connecting internet cable.

Try pressing the reset button. If no button there should be a reset hole.

Internet connexion

Hello marieclaude,

How exactly are you trying to connect? via modem, if that is the case the "disconnected" warning or notice you are seeing is probably the LAN line. That is the other port that looks like a telephone jack, but is a little bigger.

If you can get online and there is no problem except that annoying notice you can; go to control panel, double click 'network connections', right click the 'Local Area Connection' next to it should read - disconnected, after right click - select 'disable'.

Now you won't get that message or that box with the red x in the corner anymore. If you ever do need to connect through that port in the future, you will have to go back to control panel, follow same steps and then select - 'enable'.

Regards,

-Chester
