Hi,

Should be a VGA (Video graphics adapter) problem. Please clean the dust and replace the VGA cable then it will work fine.

My HP A735W is turning on but stays in power save mode and no key board or mouse function

I think the issue is your monitor. If the monitor constantly says Power Save Mode and not let anything else display then the monitor might be bad. See if we can isolate the problem by the steps below.

Try booting up in Safe Mode and see if the monitor works ok.

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Take the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will look different to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this is normal. If it works ok in safe mode then the monitor is ok and we might have an issue with a setting.

Try connecting another monitor to your computer. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor works ok, then your original monitor is bad. If the Borrowed monitor does the same thing as your original monitor then the issue is with the computer (possibly the video card).

If you have worked on video card then problem can be of "Ram"

nurah_0.jpg

You have to take out ram and clean it .
You have to clean it with a cotton cloth and a liquid called "IP". If you are not having it then don't worry take a normal eraser and rub it on the golden pins and then take the dust off.Place it in the same slot and then start your system,if it failed to start then place the ram in other slots beside it .

"Be careful that every time you take it off safely You have to open the clips attached to it by stretching it ,and while you place it the lock should automatically come in their position."

After checking all the slots if it does not give display then try your "Ram" with another system if it works on other system then you have to change the ram.
If "Ram" is working OK then you have to check the Heat sink.It look like the below figure

Check that it is fitted properly and not moving from its place. If it is moving then fix it by pressing it .

If all this in vain then it will be your video card try swapping it.Your problem will be surely fixed.

Hope the above information is helpful to you.
Thanks.

The monitor will not work. We switch it on and it flashes POWER SAVING MODE and goes dark

hi laura,

you may have to disable the POWER SAVING MODE by using the monitor's menu settings(see front buttons, on older models they're hidden
behind a click-panel in the front of the monitor)
it is the same menu you would use for adjusting the monitor's brightness etc.)

If you still face the problem, do hook it up to another PC and boot up.
Try using the PC with another monitor as well, just to double-check the video card is ok.

If stilll the same prob, it could be broke .

Good luck

Monitor displays breifly then goes to blank screen

If tried the monitor on two other computers with the same result -- definitly your monitor is faulty. Take it to the repair shop. To make double sure, run your computer with another monitor. If everything is fine now; you can blame the monitor.

Pc wont read monitor

If you look at the monitor there will be an led light on the front that is always orange or yellow when the computer is off but still connected to the monitor. This led will turn green when the computer boots up, sometimes even showing a "no signal" display before boot. If you see the 'command line'  text during the boot process (video info, BIOS version, POST text, etc) then the monitor is being recognized by the computer. If that text goes away and the led goes back to orange then it is a driver or operating system problem. Pressing whatever key is prompted at the lower left of the display, if you have a display, like F1, F2, F10, Delete or whatever will get you to the setup program and all is good with the display/computer connection and a green light will stay on. If you never get that green led light then either the video card is bad or not seated properly

Moniter

First please check whether the Monitor powering ON or not
the see the colour of light of the monitor i.e, its green or orange or not glowing next see that all the lights showing but constantly flickering or else just see u r VGA or DVI Cable which is connected properly to the CPU if it is ok then remove the cable connect only the monitor to different machine in case still not comming then finally it is a monitor problem or else just check all the connections inside the CPU

In case its monitor problem either it will not power ON or else all the lights will blink constantly that means the refresh rate or the Resolution of the monitor has been changed in case if it is done just connect a different monitor boot in the safe mode by pressing F8 button after entering there change the resolution which will be in the display properties apply and reboot the machine or else turn off u r PC and connect u r Old Monitor and Boot the Machine

Monitor won't display.

I would suggest that the "Event" that caused the CB to trip has caused ya Monitor to fail.. Probably in the Power Supply, My "Pet" area... lol.. anyway Thats wat I would think. It may even have an internal "Fuse" that has "Blown"?

Monitor lives its own life ;) Turnes off and on in random moments

It sounds like there's a problem in the power supply or inverter section and it's just teetering on the edge of failure. The disruption of the signal is apparently just enough to kick it over the cliff until it's reset. Sooner or later, it'll need some help, like connections, capacitors, output transistors, capacitors, transformers. Those are the most common failures in these. I think you'll see it get worse
