Question about Weber Genesis Silver B Grill

1 Answer

No gas is getting to the burners. It was working and suddenly quit. I changed the bottle to a new bottle. No gas. I ran a thin wire through the regulator. No gas. There are three burner valves - none light. Any ideas?

This problem sounds like the internal vent in the regulator has clogged up and will not change state to let the valve inside open. You can purchase the regulator from most hardware chain stores or directly from the manufacturer.

Hope this helps you out.

My grill is not working. What could be the

The first thing you will need to do is try lighting the burner manually with a match or bbq lighter. Bring the flame next to the burner then turn on the griddle knob. It should light up. If it does then it is either a weak spark on the ignition system due to debris on the electrode or there is blockage in the burner eyes at the electrode. Try poking out the eyes of the burner with a safety pin or sewing needle. And try using a wire brush to lightly clean the electrode head(where the spark comes from). If your tried lighting the burner with a match or bbq lighter and it did not light or a very small flame came out then there is a restriction in either the burner eyes, venturri, or burner orfice. Frist inspect the burner eyes for any blockage(grease or particles of food) and then use the sewing needle or safety pin to clean out all the burner eyes. If the burner is easily removed then go ahead and remove it and check the venturri(burner pipe) for any debris inside it. A small bottle brush can be used to clear the venturri. And finally with the burner removed you should be able to see the burner orfice. It will look like a small nut(usually brass) with a very small hole in it. This is where the gas comes out and if this hole becomes plugged then the burner will not work. The best way to clear this hole is to use a very small wire like the wire on a sandwich bag tie strap. Burn the plastic off of the tie strap to expose the thin metal wire and then use the wire to clear out the hole. DO NOT USE ANYTHING LARGE to try and clear out this hole. It is tiny for a reason and the soft brass can be opened up easily while try to clear the orfice hole causing a huge increase in gas pressure. If you clear the orfice hole and still do not get any gas pressure then the next step would be to remove the orfice(this requires a orfice wrench) and verify that you get gas coming from the burner tube with the orfice removed. If you do not get any gas after removing the orfice the more than likely the problem lies with the burner valve restricted internally and will need to be re-built or replaced.

My Weber gas grill is less than a year old. The

gas regulator make sure all burners are off when you connect bottle... the units have a leak sensor and will stop the gas coming out because it thinks you have a leak when you connected the bottle. now try hooking up the bottle again with all the burners closed incl. the side burner and the infa red. It will work o.k. then

Igniters won't turn on & unwanted flammes

You say you have no sparks coming from your gas range, but your rear burner is lighting. That doesn't quite make sense. If some of your burners are lighting, then the problem can't be with the spark module. The spark module sends a spark to ALL the igniters at the same time. That is, EACH burner switch, when turned to ignite, will cause a spark to go to ALL the burner igniters at the same time. Just watch the next time you turn one of your burner switches on, and you'll see a spark at all the burners simultaneously. This is normal. I suspect that you have a bad igniter switch or wiring harness. For example, if you have a front burner that won't light, but WILL light when you turn on another burner, the spark is being provided by a working burner switch. This is also normal. Now, am I assuming that your back burner will not light properly, but will light if you use the front burner? If so, the burner switch for the rear burner is probably bad, or the wiring harness has a break somewhere. Now...if you have no sparks, as you say, but randomly a burner will light, then I would suspect a bad spark module. I hope I'm not confusing you here. In a nutshell: One burner doesn't work, but all others do - bad burner switch, or wiring harness. No burners light, or light randomly - spark module. I hope this helps you.
