Look's like your windows installer is corrupt. You can re-install it from here.

I'm trying to reinstall Windowsxp on my Dell dimension 8200. After putting the CD in and it comes up on the screen I click on install Windows XP and then a window pops up that says set up can not continue...

if your using the restore or re-installation CD that came with your DELL computer just boot off the CD.
it will reformat the computer and your data will be lost if you do a fresh install off the CD.
Do not boot into windows and use the CD from there.
make sure you set the bios to boot off the CD follow the instructions on screen to reinstall windows.

How can you get the touch screen or pen work on the dell latitude xt2? I can't figure out how to get the buttons to work or the screen to rotate.

What OS are you using ? Windows Vista or Windows 7 ?
In order to get the buttons and touchscreen working, you need to install the proper drivers.
Go to http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=LAT_XT2&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=&impid=
Select your operating system
and download the following drivers and install them in the following order :
  1. System Utilities : - > Dell Utility : System Software
  2. ControlPoint -> Dell - Application : ControlPoint System Manager
  3. Input device drivers - > Ntrig Application
Restart your computer. Run Windows Update Restart your computer Everything should work.

Is your new Dell desktop running Windows 7?

I have a Dell Dimension 4500 desktop computer and the cpu had windows xp pro on it for which wasn't genuin windows so anyways I put in a copy of windows xp home for which was on the cpu. I deleated the old...

ok i had to do this with my mothers computer, when you delete a partition, you have to make a new one in its place, i say put in the xp cd, then say to create a whole new windows installation, when it asks you to choose a partition, delete all partitions, then make a new one, your choice to size but keep it enough to at least install windows onto it, then after that just reformat that partition and install windows, that should fix it.

I keep getting the error that C:windowssystem32configsystem is corrupt or missing, and it says I can repair it by inserting the CD and pressing R. So I popped in the CD, booted from the CD, and it all...

YES. This IS the problem.

When Windows is installed on a computer, it assigns a hash value for the major hardware components inside the computer.

You may think of it as assigning serial numbers, for each major hardware component. In reality it isn't a serial number, though. Just a specific value attached to THAT hardware component.

Some of the major hardware components such as;

1.Processor
2.Harddrive
3.Motherboard, (Actually the BIOS program and version, which is burned into the BIOS chip, on the motherboard)
4.Graphics chip (GPU)

Now THAT genuine copy of Windows is matched to THE computer it was installed on.

(It is a security feature that Microsoft implemented long ago. A feature to try to insure that their software would not be stolen.
Microsoft Users License states "One genuine copy of Windows per One computer"

Helps to keep thieves from taking One Genuine copy of Windows, and installing it on 1000's of computers.

{Microsoft makes one Master disk of an Operating System. Such as Windows 95, or 98, or 2000, or Me, or XP, or Vista. Then they copy off the genuine version that you, or I receive)

The Restoration disk has the needed Windows files. File for Windows System32.

Files you need right now. Except the ones on the restoration disk you're trying to use, is for another computer.
The Restoration disk also has needed Drivers, and also has the files needed for the Programs, and Applications.
Trouble is, they are for the other computer, and not the one you have now.

I turn my computer off and back on i hear the music but i get a black screen

Try and do a XP repair: Boot the PC with a Win XP cd.
When you boot with the Win XP install CD-ROM, it loads a minimal operating system, similar to DOS, but compatible with Win XP. At the first screen you select install Win XP (not Recovery Console) and at the next screen it will find that you already have Win XP and offer to attempt a repair. This repair should not touch your applications, it just reinstalls the Windows files. This is great because when it works you don't need to reinstall all your software.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Won't even install

Hi,

May be you are trying to install the application from the cd.

Check the cd, cd might be sratched or something.

Run the drive lens cleaner & then try.

Copy the application from the cd to the desktop & then install.

If it still giving the error message. then you have to get the application from other source.

I you have mentioned the name of the application i could have given the link to download.

Good Luck.
