Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console
Ive had my xbox for about 2 years and havent had a problem (well nvm, i only had this one for about 1 year. first one got ring of death) im under warranty for another year, so no real concern. my disk drive recently wont open. i would press the button to open and it would move a little bit, but acted as if it was being blocked. when i push on the disk drive itself (not the button), it opens up fine. ive had a few problems where it open halfway and not close or open so i would just push it back in. this may be the cause of gta 4 freezing up on me all the time. just pushin it out there, but my copy of gta4 freezes constantly. it can either be 10 minutes of play or 2 hours and it will freeze. it seems to be a problem with either the disk or the disk drive. the xbox will become noticeably quieter and will just act as if its been shut off. then the game graphics will become really, just plain crappy. then the error screen pops up. HELP!!!
If you ever open the disk tray and then the power source is cut, the tray will try to ''autofix'' itself by making whatever state it was at the default position. This doesnt sound like whats going on for you, though.
If you can turn your 360 on and go to the main screen, try opening it with the ''open tray'' button on the bottom of the main screen.
If that fixes it, your problem is a faulty disk tray button.
If the tray still does that with the xbox main menu button, then its a mechanical thing with the tray.
Go to walmart and buy one of those air spray bottles (like an airsol can to clean dust out of PCs) and spray it into the 360 tray once it is opened. Aim the spray on the sides, what it sounds like is dust or something collected on the gears of the disc tray. If you have your 360 on carpet or a dusty surface this is probobly the problem.
Thats about the only thing you can do without opening the 360 up yourself (IF ITS STILL UNDER WARRANTY DONT OPEN IT) that will void the warranty. So if the airsol spray doesnt do it, then send it in to microsoft.
hope that solves it
