Worth replacing? Is it worth it for me to replace the entire power supply? I don't have a service manual to find out how much they are. Any free resources for finding out prices?

No you dont need to replace the intire power supply.its very easy to repair you can do it checked all the diodes ,for forward bias ,and for shortage and next the the capacitor for shorted, or busted you can see the apearance change,I know your is good because when put the fuse is blown away resistor good, only the diodes near in the transformer.and if see a transistor with heat sink check that maybe short also ill try to find a shematic diagram for you.

Can you repair/replace the CD drive in an Aiwa XR M00U shelf system? All other functions fine.

Repair; I doubt it, Replace; yes, but the hard part would be finding a replacement unit. You would have to open the case to find out what type of connectors it has and go from there. In the long run you're going to spend more time and effort than it's really worth. That isn't a newer stereo system so consider that you've gotten your moneys worth of life out of it. Best suggestion is to put a new stereo on your Christmas wish list.

The power supply of my Bose sounddock series 1 stopped working and the price of a replacement is too high, Can I change the 4 pins connector to a regular 2 pin connector in the sounddock. (I know that the...

You cannot use a two pin connector as there are three lines, +18, -18 and ground. While you can connect the two ground lines together, you still need to accommodate the split power rails.

The easiest way would be to fit a 3 pin mini-din plug. However, you are going to be looking long and hard to find a replacement power supply on tevshelf that can produce the two rail voltages required at a suitable current.

In the interest of protecting your dock from damage, and given the amount of work required to make the change, you are far better to bite the bullet and purchase a replacement supply from Bose.

Of course, you may be able to source a Chinese clone supply from China on the eBay website - perhaps worth a look... :o)

The cover doesn't close any more... Can't play CDs... Is it worth having serviced? I just love the look of it

Hello
The fault must be with its loading belt itself. If you have tools and skill to open the set, you can replace it by yourself. Actually this is not a worth having repair. Only one belt has to be replaced. OK.

Hello, I am looking for a replacement for a lost remote control (of a shelf audio system JVC FS-SD 1000. Where would I be able to find it? And would it be worth it (at what cost)?

  • Hi, I can help.

  • As to weather or not it is worth it... if you are going to use your system on a regular business I would say yes it is worth it. While universal remotes can be useful, finding one that has every command available that the original remotes is very difficult.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Pansonic SC-HC3 about 1 year old, been great, has just stopped? no indication of power at all. lead and power supply is good- but no one home? worth getting repaired or taking to bits?

Exactly the same issue - built in self-destruct?? I took mine apart (screws are hidden behind the speaker grilles, which just prise off, plus one screw behind the sliding door, and the ones at the back and side (near the mains socket)). Fuse was good and all looked OK, so would need some work to find and fix - probably not worth it.

Philips MCW770/37 stereo will not power on any longer.

Hi ,
This is just a suggestion. Check your speaker wires at the back and at the speakers. A shorted speaker wire will cause a tripped breaker.

Buzzing noise

Of course it will stop buzzing when you mute the speakers. From the limited description, it could be anything from a power supply to loose wires in the system between the speaker leads and the motherboard. Best bet is to take it in to a technician and get a pro's answer. If he wants to charge more than what it's worth to you, get a new one.

Wont turn on

Its too bad this is a solid state system and has no user replaceable parts inside unless you have some knowledge of printed circuit board repairs. It sounds as there may be a power supply problem or the output devices are bad and loading down the power supply. These days, most of these type of systems, do not pay to have them repaired, unless you want to of course. I have found most repairs with the labor are almost or exceed the cost of a new one. Hope this helps. Good Luck Ps Please dont forget to rate this thread
