Question about Sony LBT-G3300 Shelf System

Worth replacing? Is it worth it for me to replace the entire power supply? I don't have a service manual to find out how much they are. Any free resources for finding out prices?

No you dont need to replace the intire power supply.its very easy to repair you can do it checked all the diodes ,for forward bias ,and for shortage and next the the capacitor for shorted, or busted you can see the apearance change,I know your is good because when put the fuse is blown away resistor good,only the diodes near in the transformer.and if see a transistor with heat sink check that maybe short also ill try to find a shematic diagram for you.

Iplugged my jvc rx-7010vbk 120v reciever into a 220v outlet, does it have a power supply fuse that would burn out or is the whole power supply shot, what parts do i need to fix it

more than likely the whole board is shot
fuses only control current flow and break when that is exceeded
It is the voltage that does the damage that same as when you put 12 volts through a 6 volt bulb

MOITOR WILL NOT POWER UP

If the power light does not come on, first try another outlet. If the monitor has a removable power cord, try another cord. If those don't work, there is a fault in the monitor power supply. Most likely the unit has bad capacitors. You will have to check them visually. If they look domed on the top, and perhaps stained, they will need to be replaced. If you cannot solder, then it's time to either take it into a service centre, or replace the monitor unless you have a friend who can replace the capacitors.

You can Google "replace capacitors in LCD monitor" to see examples of what must be done. If you inspect the power board and the capacitors are fine, there may be another problem with the power board which means unless it's a monitor worth over $200 it's unlikely worth having the power board replaced. Donate it to a school for their students to practice on.

How do you change the transmission fluid on a 2000 Saturn LS1?

Oh, I LOVE these kinds of conversations....How much is your car worth? According to Kelly BlueBook, a 2000 Saturn with 100K miles on the clock could be worth anything from about $1700 and $2700 depending on the condition and what equipment it has (as of the date of this post). I would venture to say that the transmission can be replaced for less than that.

Then , there is the "what is it worth to YOU" question. I am currently driving a car that I bought for $150 because the owner did not think it was "worth" the cost of a $2500 engine. I replaced the engine and have been driving the car completely trouble-free for over 5 years now. I have done NOTHING to it except change the oil an put gas in it during this time. (it is just now getting close to needing front brakes.)

Anyway, do the math: $150 (original cost) + $2500 (engine replacement) = $2650 total car cost. Divide that by 64 (the total number of months I have been driving the car) = $41.40 / month. NOW how much was that car worth? - you SURE can't buy a new one for that!!! Where I live, that would just about make a "down payment" on a monthly bus pass!

A service tech is probably the best person to ask what the car is worth. They can look at the condition of the ENTIRE car and see how much work is going to be needed to restore everything to good working condition. Have them check the engine, transmission, the steering and suspension, brakes, exhaust, computer network, all the accessories like power windows, door locks, etc., and have him give you an honest evaluation of the "big picture" before arbitrarilly making any decisions about what the car is worth.

My recommendation is get the car checked out by a professional repair technician who knows his stuff. Don't mess around with the transmission yourself. You will probably only be wasting money that could be better spent for either replacing the transmission, or putting a down payment on a newer vehicle.

You will have to replace the entire outer tub. I have posted a link to the service manual as well as the tub from the least expensive parts retailer. This job will require two people and about 2-3 hours.

The noise sounds like the power source?

I had the exact same problem with this monitor, same model & manufacture date. Another solution on this site promted me to replace 3 capacitors on the switching power supply similiar to the one pictured here:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r4573335-fix_dead_lcd_monitor

Take apart the monitor, carefully unplugging the jumpers to the spkrs, USB ports, etc., and remove the power supply from the internal cage. I desoldered and replaced the following capacitors/values from the board of the power supply:

C5 = 680uF 25V
C17 = 680uF 25V
C10 = 1000uF 16V

I picked these up at an electronics repair shop for $3 and spent about 1.5 hours with the entire process. It's a great monitor and was well worth the time and parts to get it working.

Neff combi blown diode.

If the diode failed by opening, there may be no other damage. If the dioded failed by shorting, the alternating current may have damaged other components. Ohm it out. You can get diodes from digikey.com, mouser.com, or radio shack or any electronics or appliance supply. If the diode is charred and you can't get the part number, the oven rating can be used to select a replacement. Since the fuse was 10 amps, the diode should also handle at least 10 amps. If you can power the unit and read the voltage at the diode input this will give you the power (volts times amps). It's always worth trying as it's cheaper than replacing the unit.
