Directx 9.0 graphics adapter problem

Hello,

I am trying to play my Sims 2 on my laptop, but when it is trying to load an error screen pops up that says there is a problem with directx 9.0 graphics adapter. I have been playing it fine and then one day it said, "Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacture. The application will now terminate." I tried to download the latest DirectX 9.0 from microsoft website, but that didn't work. I also checked to see if I have the graphic card and I do its the ATI RADEON XPRESS 200m series. Please help me and save me a trip to Best Buy. Thank you so much!

There is a patch at the sims2 website, also you might try right clicking and then go to properties and selecting the run as a Vista or XP program.

The error message is correct. Windows 7 is not backwards compatible with certain graphics adapters requiring DirectX support higher than 8.0.
You should attempt first to install the proper driver for your graphics adapter from the manufacturer, and if that does not fix the issue, you should either install a new graphics adapter, or revert back to Windows XP.

Dell Inspirion mini 10v XP gets graphic error (Directx 9.0C) then running Sims 2.

The graphics chipset in a Dell mini is not capable of running Sims 2. It requires far more power than you are going to get from a Netbook. Even some standard Laptops would be hard pressed to run Sims 2.

Netbooks are for email and web browsing, and that is about it. You'd be lucky to run even a simple Flash-based game on a netbook. Sorry...

Graphics adapter its hardware device rather then software. You check whether all driver installed for you video card and DirectX9.0 installed too. It might that you poses old video on board card which doesnt support directX 9

The graphic organizer won't work it says i need DirectX 9.0c

First thing you do is check your system requierments,(should be located on the back of your CD case, or somewhere in your manuel, probebly under the title "System Requirments") it will probebly say something like "complete Direct-X compatible graphics adapter requiered". You then go to Start Menu-->Run (type in "dxdiag" (without quotes)) and see if you have the correct graphics card, and or graphics adapter.

If you do have the correct system requierments repost your problem saying you have the correct system requierments but you still get the following message: "Failed to find any Directx9.0 compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provide by the manufactuer. The application will now terminate."

If you do not have the correct system requierments, you cannot play the game on that computer.

Hope this helps.

Cant play sims2, message pops up saying i need Directx 9 adapter.

of course we need the specks Taylor- and your graphics card should support directx 9. Unless you have some obscure onboard graphics card or are running win 98 or ur card is really old direct x 9 is supported by cards that were sold even 3-4 years ago.

NOW WHAT YOU CAN TRY IS: If you are on win xp and this funked up message shows up you can try running the gave in compatibility mode for win 2000. right click on the game file go to compatibility tab choose win 2000 in the dropdown apply and okay it. Try and run it again.

Cheers
rate if this does it- if its your low end hardware upgrade coz there is nothing any of us can do for low end hardware

Direct X compatibility issue with new graphics card

Hi tom2badcat, the SIMS game is very picky when it comes to graphics cards. If you look on the SIMS box you'll find their recomended graphics card list. The video card you bought is a low end 8x AGP card. You can try downloading & installing directx 9.0c from microsoft. Click on this link;
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9226a611-62fe-4f61-aba1-914185249413&displaylang=en
If directx 9.0c still fails to install the graphics card is at fault & you should return it. Listed below is a link. The link provides a couple 8x AGP graphics cards that will run both directx 9.0c & the SIMS expansion pack 2. (The graphic cards shown all use faster memory).
XFX cards carry a lifetime warranty. (No# Choice)
