Blackberry connection problems

My new blackberry 8320 connects at other wireless locations but not at home using my Linksys WRT54GX router. After I enter my WEP key and try to connect I get connection error code on the blackberry. Is there a firmware upgrade or adjustment that will fix the problem?....Steve

I have a Linksys WRT160Nv3 wireless router and a blackberry curve 8900. My blackberry tells me that it will generate a PIN, which I will then enter somehow into the router to satisfy its WEP security...

it wont, Mobile devices do not have the option to have a generated pin the same as for a Router vice versa, the only you can get connected to your router from your blackberry is to have your router security key disabled. this will allow you to connect any mobile device on your router, a PSP and other wireless devices than can use wireless internet.

BlackBerry Curve 8320 will not connect with HS-100W

If it's any consolation. My BB 8820 connects to my Zyxel NBG-460N, but after a few minutes the connection just dies (the BB still shows its connected to the WiFi, tries to use it and can in fact send packets out, but it does not receive anything any more). The router has gone through 3 firmware upgrades so far and no solution. It's also causing trouble with some USB WiFi sticks when the SSID hiding is enabled.

In short: I believe ZyXEL's WLAN support is simply broken, and you'll have to buy a WLAN AP from another manufacturer.

First you need to take backup of the files of your device.

To perform a full or selective backup of the BlackBerry smartphone data using the Backup and Restore tool in BlackBerry Desktop Manager, complete the following steps:
Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer running BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Click Backup and Restore.
Select Backup to perform a full backup or select Advanced to perform a backup of specific databases.
Choose a location to save the backup file, and then click Save.

After taking the backup follow the following steps to wipe your HH.
From the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, go to Options > Security Options > General Settings.
Display the menu and select Wipe Handheld.
Click Continue.
Type blackberry, and then press the Enter key.

For BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.2 and later
From the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, go to Options > Security Options > General Settings.
Display the menu and select Wipe Handheld.
Select the Include third-party applications check box.
Click Continue.
Type blackberry, and then press the Enter key.

Note: If you have turned on content protection, the process for deleting all data and applications from the BlackBerry smartphone can take up to an hour to complete. Do not remove the battery from the BlackBerry smartphone while data is being deleted.

Wireless Networking With a Linksys Wireless-G WRT54GX Router?

k2rt9ceswg,

You seem rather savvy so I won't bore you with frivolous explanation. Essentially ISPs detect the MAC address of whatever device is plugged into their network. In the case of your laptop connected wired to your modem, the MAC address of your wired adapter is what is tied to your ISP account. When you plugged in a router, the MAC address of that router was different than your laptop's wired network adapter and your ISP said "nope, not letting that connect". This is something most ISPs are doing now-a-days.

You can get around this by following these steps:
  1. Plug your PC back into the modem wired
  2. Ensure you have internet connection again
  3. Go to Start -> run and type "cmd" without quotes
  4. Type "ipconfig /release" without the quotes (there is a space in there that needs to be in there)
  5. Disconnect your PC from the modem and plug the router into it
  6. Plug another LAN cable into the router and your laptop
  7. In the same command prompt, type "ipconfig /renew"
If the computer pulls an IP address for the wired ethernet, you should be all set to disconnect the cable from the router and PC and try to connect to it wireless. If it doesn't pull an IP address, you'll need to contact your ISP and inform them that you're having trouble getting your new router to work with your existing network.

You might also consider depressing the reset button located on the back of your Linksys router to set the router to its default configuration. This would clear all previous settings if there were any and might clear up any configuration options you had set when previously using this router.

You must be sure to what router you are trying to connect. I understand you have a ZyXel and a linksys. You must have 2 wireless networks. Your wireless network must be secured, so you just have to use the correct password. I need more details. Try this http://technicalsupport.blog.friendster.com

Can't connect Blackberry Curve 8320 to 2wire wifi

W002 - Wi-Fi Connection Failed

Means The phone cannot get an IP Address from the Server.

Common issues are

The signal is to weak to make a reliable connection

WEP is configured incorrectly or WPA

DHCP may be disabled, it needs to be enabled on the router

There are other more technical issues to this but without more information this should be a good start.

Had same issue with a BlackBerry 8320. Disabling the 22MBps on the DI-614+ fixed the problem (in performance, advanced tab, select 1-2-5.5-11 MBps for TX and Basic rates).
