I have a Panasonic Viera TC-P42x5 TV. I had a brief power outage and the TV would not turn back on. no power at all.

I have the same tv. Upon researching how to fix this, I came upon an answer to do a reset. I tried it and it did work! Try doing this: Let's try a hard reset of the TV. To do this, disconnect the set from powericon1.png then press and hold the power button on the TV itself (not the remote), for 10 seconds and release. Then plug the TV back in, and also make sure the power cord connection to the TV itself is secureicon1.png. Then press power once . Hopefully that will do it.

Dvd player not powering on opened it all seems ok but no power its 2 year old

Hello,

first, try another power adapter on the unit, if it still does not power up, then it means its having a power problem. it might have worked fine in the past, but that's electronics for you. Power surge, irregular power supply, excess power supply, etc can affect the unit thereby not making it to power on.

This unit must have a power supply board in it where power enters from the mains. A capacitor, fuse, diode, etc may have been defective on the power board and maybe that's why its not making the unit turn on. There might also be some disconnection or something, inside the unit which is not making it to power on.

To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the unit with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter in order to test the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store withing our vicinity. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem.

Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.

I wish you the best of luck.

Regards.

I unplugged my dvd recorder. When I plugged it back in it won't power on.

Hello
Just look at the power chord, whether it has been pluged into the slot well. Check the wall power socket also for presence of power. Replug it to an other power plug point. Till the problem perists, surely there must be some fault with its power regulator board inside. Normally, if power regulator board gets power, the power indicator must light up. If not power regulator board [SMPS] board is faulty, and should be replaced with same type and number. OK.

No power inside

If there is no power at all , then usually the problem is localized on power supply circuit, that is the circuit located where the power cord hooks up.

In there you find electrolitic power capacitors that are often cause for the problem.

Always unplug power cord before disassembling. The PSU capacitors can hold a big charge for a long time , even with power unplugged, be careful if you DIY.

It's blowed up REAL good.

Do you have a volt meter? If so, measure the power outputs of the power curcuit.

This won't really help, since if you measure the power and it's good, something on the rest of the board is bad. If the power is not good, you have to repair the power supply. If you don't know anything about electronics troubleshooting and soldering, there's no point to trying.

There is no simple owner doable solution to a problem like this.
