Question about Palm m515 Handheld

Open Question

Screen won't react to touch

My Palm 515 won't respond to any attempt to use the touch screen. It hasn't been dropped, and why, even when using pressure with the stylus I can get no response. I've tried to reset, and even did a hard reset, but no use. Any ideas?

TIA!

My palm m515 logo keeps blinking and can not reset. When the screen says push up button or down button or any button, it just goes back to the logo blinking. What's the problem?

My Palm 515 screen touch pad doesn't work properly. When I press abc , 123 , clock or Calculator something else work. This means when I type v in Alphanumeric then i get displayed on screen.

It seems that Touch Screen ( Touch Pad ) Recalibration required? How to do please advise the proceedure.

m515 Touch screen will not respond.  Has not been dropped. will not sync.  Fatal error message comes up.  Tried soft reset several times, then several hard resets.  Screen comes up wanting to tap the corners but does not respond to touch.  Touch screen seems completely dead.

SOURCE: Touch screen

You may have dust accumulation around the edges of your touchscreen, between the screen and the case. Try using a can of compressed air. Gently press down on the edges of the touchscreen to expose the gap between the screen and the case, and shoot the air in there. This worked for me when my Treo 600 touchscreen stopped responding.

SOURCE: Touch screen doesnt work

try to open the case, clean the screen and the small frame carefully, reinstall and... good luck, mine worked this way.

SOURCE: how do i fix the touch screen on my palm z22?

HI,
This is a problem that you will have to contact Palm about. There are a couple ways you can get in touch with them. By phone but you have to pay for that. It is about $25. There is also a free chat that you can do to get support. Here is a link to their contact page. Scroll to the bottom and there is a link for the free chat. Good luck and best wishes.

HI,
Here is a link to get you to the Palm support page. You can do a phone call to the but it will cost you $25. There is also a chat feature and that looks like it is free so hopefully that will help.
Best wishes.

Touch screen on Palm Z22 does not respond

The Data on your Z22 is rock-solid safe, but unlike the answer that states to do a RESET- DO NOT ! The touch screen problem has nothing to do with resetting, it is a failure of the soft plastic top layer of the touch screen. There is a tiny, remote possibility that the logic circuits are out of sync and the touchscreen really is mixed up in a software state, and a SOFT RESET may reset the touch screen, but this is almost unheard of ( but does happen).
I have an entire page on the Z22 and how to maintain, repair and interface it. It is at:
kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html

I would suggest trying a few tricks listed on my web page, and see if you can get the screen to work again. It is IMPERATIVE to get a hard plastic cover over the screen to keep it working!

Please read over the information on the Z22 page.

good luck

Does not respond to stylus

Try recalibrating the touch screen. Devices with touch screens need to be recalibrated in order to respond properly. The greater the use, the more often recalibration is necessary. I recalibrate my phone once a week. I hope this helps.

Touch screen on lg ku990 seems slow

they reckon if it has a screen protector on it it is "slower" to respond. So if you do have one off... remove it. but yes I do believe my touch screen is abit delayed even without a screen protector :(

Palm Treo Touch Screen

Try running a piece of paper around the edge of the screen. There may be was something stuck in there, pressing the screen slightly and causing it to not respond to the stylus

Touch screen will not respond

I had the exact problem as you, and was at my wit's end and ready to throw my Zire into the trash can, but decided to give it one last ditch effort by getting in touch with Palm tech support. Boy am I glad I did, because the solution was so easy: what you need to do is hold the power button while you do the hard reset (in the back, using a paper clip), but the key to this step is to keep your finger on the power button for a full 30 seconds. When I tried this same process before, I experienced what you are experiencing, but when I help the power button on for 30 seconds, just like the tech instructed me, it worked on the very first try. It was so easy and it fixed the problem. Give it a try!

Touchscreen does not respond to touch

This is straight from Palm Support...
1.Press and hold the UP button on the front panel of your device.

2.While holding the UP button, use an unfolded paper clip, or the reset tool at the tip of your stylus, to gently press the RESET button inside the hole on the back of your device

3.The Palm Computing Platform screen will appear. Release the UP button when you see it.

Screen orientation

PDAs that use touch screens have a very thin membrane over the screen itself that responds to pressure. If this membrane becomes damaged, which it sounds like what has happened, then you're more than likely going to need to have it replaced. You can try doing it yourself, but it's WAY up on the difficulty factor because of the complexity of the connection to the circuit board on the Vx.
To determine if your unit is, in fact, actually damaged, you should first make sure that you've syncronized the unit (which may not be possible if you don't have it set to automatically activate HotSync when the device is attached) then do a "hard reset" to restore it to the factory default. To do this, hold the reset button while simultaneously holding the power button for, at least, three seconds. You will get a message asking you to press up on the control pad to reset to factory defaults. Once the unit is reset, try the screen again... touching even the outer areas to see if there's any response. If it reacts, or beeps at all, then it may be an issue of recalibrating (using the "Digitizer") once it's fully reset. If not, it will need repair/replacement.
