First check the video cable to confirm that it is on screw on tight for both connections. If it is, then on new LCD screens hit the menu button and see if there is a way to adjust the color, if the color is set correctly, one last thing I would try is to move it to another computer to see if you get the same outcome. If so then it is defective.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I've lost the red color to my computer. How can I fix it?

If you are using a CRT monitor and you have lost the colour RED, then whats known as the colour gun is faulty. It can be replaced at a cost. However you might find it cheaper or economically sound to purchase a new LCD monitor.

Remember to also check your screen by pushing the menu key on it.

In the menu, under colour management ensure that all colours are set to 50%.

If it is then above colour gun theory is correct.

All the best!

My Dell M991 TCO-99 monitor has lost the red colour i.e. there is NO red at all, an of course all the other colours are affected - shifted towards blue - is it the end of the CRT or can it be fixed by...

I'm assuming the red is gone completely; that is, it's not present at all and not just missing in video from the computer. If that's the case, you probably have a bent pin in the VGA connector, a bad signal cable, or possible video card failure.

The missing red might be due to bad solder connections. These often develop around parts that get hot, like the color output transistors. They also can occur on the circuit board that plugs onto the end of the CRT. If you're comfortable with electronic soldering you could examine the boards and repair any connections that look dodgy (grainy or visibly cracked around the component lead).

It's also possible there's been some component failure, and you won't be able to find that without some test equipment and experience with troubleshooting. It could be the CRT itself that's had it, especially if it's been around a while. Sudden loss of one of the colors is a very common failure mode.

Bottom line is check the soldering if you really want to keep this monitor, but beyond that don't bother repairing it. Not many servicers will work on computer monitors. And the cost of repair is likely to be uneconomical. New LCD monitors are quite inexpensive, and repairing your CRT one may approach replacement cost.

Red colour disappeared

The bad news is this isn't really a solution. You should seriously consider getting rid of the CRT and going with a flat screen LCD monitor. It is 2009 after all...

I cannot ajust my screen the colours are awful

Check your vga driver is working ok otherwise run the vga driver setup ajust the resolution and refresh rate your monitor will be ok

If you monitor is red/blue or yellowish then you have to replace it because colour

Go to control panel then choose system - hardware - device manager - > expand the display adapter any exclamation mark or question mark there.

That means you have to reinstall its driver .

Installed new color wheel not working correctly

Hi danny,

I also replaced the color wheel in my EP739 after the old one disintegrated suddenly. Colours were then all over the place. Actually, it looked like each colour channel was displaying all the colours of the rainbow!

Here is the procedure I used to solve the problem - maybe not as elegant as Marrie's solution, but it will not cause any damage, will most likely solve the problem, and you will be able to get everything back to the way it was if it doesn't work:
  1. Have the projector running and displaying a stationary picture. The right sort of picture to use is one that has a full range of brightness values from near-black to peak white. I used my lap-top as the source. Also, this way you can compare the projector's picture with the picture on the lap-top.
  2. Press the power button once. "Power off the lamp" dialogue box appears. Hold down the left arrow button until the service menu appears (takes about 8 seconds).
  3. Using the up/down arrow buttons, scroll down to "Color Setting" and press "enter".
  4. Scroll up to "Color Wheel Index". Make a note of the existing setting for later reference. You can change the Index setting over a range of 100 to 550 by holding down the left/right arrow buttons. As the setting changes, the colour rendition will slowly change, and at some point the colours will come right. Note that the changes are quite slow. Find the lower and higher settings where colour aberrations just start to appear, and set the Index mid-way between.
  5. If this doesn't fix the problem, return the Index setting to original. My original setting was 354 and the new setting was 461.
I do not advise touching any other settings in the service menu unless you have access to a service manual and know what you are doing.

Good luck!

Your problem most likely is on the signal board is my guess. If your not a technician it would be in your best interest to have him check L2C60 on the signal board.

for whatever reason you have lost your blue gun. it could be a matter of an adjustment or a defective component in the blue video driver. take it to have it serviced.
