can you get to windows safe mode? hit F8 a few times when you are starting up your computer...

if you can, then you need to get a cleaning program like malware bytes and run it in safe mode.

  • emaryesh Nov 12, 2010

I can't even get that far. [into safe mode]
    ..... whats next?!!!!!

  • crispee Nov 12, 2010

do you have an external CD/DVD drive? you can attempt to boot an windows XP disk and try a Repair Install, this should install/replace system files and allow you to boot back into the OS, I am not too familiar with how EeePC installs it's OS, but if you have an external CD/DVD you can also try some other bootable rescue CD's like bitdefender...

  • emaryesh Nov 12, 2010

no, netbooks do not have external CD drives. what about useing a flash drive? I'm not geek .. I have no idea what to do

  • crispee Nov 12, 2010

yes you can use a bootable flash drive, doesn't matter what you use just as long as it allows you to boot the device and allow you to scan it... by doing a quick search I found this step by step guide to building your USB virus scanner :) try it out:http://www.davescomputertips.com/article...

  • emaryesh Nov 12, 2010

    I'll try it

  • emaryesh Nov 12, 2010

so I did all that and pluged the usb into my netbook... and its a blank screen and it doesn't look like anything is happening. do I just have to wait a while?

  • emaryesh Nov 12, 2010

I've waited an hour and still nothing. what's next?

  • crispee Nov 12, 2010

ok time to try something new, did your eeepc run windows on it? if so this page has a good step by step guide to restoring XP back onto your system:http://wiki.eeeuser.com/windowsxpusb
if your eeepc was running the linux version, it is probably a whole different ball game, considering you got a really bad virus it's probably windows.

  • emaryesh Nov 12, 2010

its windows 7. and I just got it opened by pressing F2 and but now its blank again

  • emaryesh Nov 12, 2010

I''m finally getting somewhere!! I'm on my computer doing the anti stuff. thanks so much for your help!!! =)

When I turn on my asus netbook 1001 It says windows XP then tries to boot but goes to WE apologize for the inconvenience etc etc choose safe mode last known configuration or start windows normally

Try Safe mode.
Then once you're in, run your virus checker.
I like WebRoot.
Delete your browser cache, clean up the disk.
And email to yourself any files that you really want to keep so that you won't lose them in case the computer really goes down...

Asus Eee 1001px netbook Win7 keyboard won't work beyond entering password

OK, so the keyboard works because it allows you to enter the password. Your problem is a virus or infection has hijacked your keyboard and it needs windows to be up and running to operate.

Try booting up in Safe Mode.

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Take the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will look different to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this is normal. Most times safe mode will keep a virus inactive, so if your keyboard works now we definitely know it's a virus or infection.

If safe mode allows the keyboard to work, turn the computer off and reboot as if you are going into safe mode, but this time take the Safe Mode With Networking option (this will give you internet connectivity). When it boots up, open your browser then download and install MalwareBytes and run a Quick Scan.

Go to www.google.com and in the search box type: "Download cnet Malwarebytes" (without the quotes). Download and install malwarebytes from the sites download.cnet/malwarebytes. When the site opens up click on the Green Download button on the left. Do not click the Red Download button, that's junk. When it finishes installing the Gui Interface will open up with an offer to Accept a Trial Version or Decline. CLICK DECLINE you want the totally free version. Run a QUICK SCAN. As it scans, if it finds infections the number will be in red. When it finishes scanning, click SHOW RESULTS. A notepad text document will open up showing you the results. You can close the text document and go back to the Gui Interface where you will click REMOVE SELECTED RESULTS. The objects will already be selected for you. When it finishes removing the objects click ok and it will sometimes reboot your machine.

My Eee netbook has a virus how do i remove them?

Boot into safe mode (press F8 repeatedly when starting the computer), select safe mode with networking, download, then install an anti-malware software and run it. If you can't download the software on the infected computer, download it onto another computer, then transfer it to the infected computer using a flash drive, but still use safe mode. You'll want to also scan the flash drive before using it on another computer, just to make sure the virus didn't get transfered to the flash drive.

Here are some free anti-malware software:

My netbook has this anti virus thaat has just apeared and wont let me open anything :/ please can someone help its a mitac i dont know the model

Chances are that a virus scanner that just 'appeared' is either a virus itself or malware.
The first thing I would do is go to http://www.malwarebytes.org and download the latest version of their software. If you cannot do this from you PC, you may have to do it from another computer.
Once you have it downloaded to the problem computer, install it and let it check for updates.
Once this is done, reboot the computer, but hit F8 at while its starting up. This should bring up a menu that you can select Safe Mode from.
Boot the computer into Safe Mode, login and run MalwareBytes.
Select a full scan of the computer (I've this take an hour or more).
When it finishes it should find the problem and ask your what to do about it. I believe the best option is to quarantine or remove the file the that is infected.
Good Luck!!

Hi - my computer automatically shut down while I was online and kept telling me that the hard drive was at capacity.... - it wouldn't even let me control the volume without it saying something was wrong. ...

The hard drive has picked up a virus and corrupted window or the hard drive is defective, if you have the proper recovery disc give it a try, if it works you will have a fresh install of windows and you will know the hard drive is good.

Help please i am infected with a trogan horse and my avg hasnt healed it. I is titled as a Trogan Horse Generic 14 BUEO. Its path to file and its location are within my Optus wireless broadband usb...

This link may help you through the process, However, I would strongly advise you stop using AVG and go for Avast! It is also free and has a much higher rating for finding viruses and trojans.

I wouls also suggest installing, HiJack this and Adaware!

If this has helped please vote kindly

I cannot boot my vgc-rc310g after removing trogan horse (2ea)

Your laptop still has a virus. From your description, you seem computer savy. What u need to do is you need to boot your system with UBCD ( can be downloaded at www.UBCD4win.com) and search for files with the extension as .exe and delete the ones that look like folders.

then you reboot and try and log into your system. Next, download a software called Combofix. You google it out and get a download. run that to remove the remaining viruses and fix your regsitry.
