Well you didn't say what model you have, but if the dirt inlet by the brush roll and /or the hose is clogged, will cause the motor to overheat. Also so will clogged filters.

Why does the motor stop after 5 min then start back up then stop? It does this repeatedly!

if its overheating it will cut out,check for blockages in the hoses and clean the filters

How can I get my DC26 working?!

They can cut out due to overheating. Although you say you have 'cleared' the filters, they should ideally be washed as they can clog with very fine dust and cause overheating due to lack of air flow. Once a machine cuts out due to overheating it can take maybe half an hour (or longer) to cool down enough to work again.

It sounds like it is overheating because of a blocked flow of air that keeps the motor cool. Check for a blockage from the area of the
roller brush through the hose to where it goes into the bag.

Its probably clogged..
Remove the hose,, straghten it out so you can look into it..
Could be clogged where the hose connects inside the unit..
