    There,

I don´t need a blood pressure monitor. I need like a kid´s laptop, with a monitor and big keys of a keyboard, so my father can write, as he can´t talk. So he would press the keys so they appear in the monitor.

It would be like a writting machine, but instead of posting a paper, letters should appear in the monitor.

Sorry if I can´t explain myself better, my english is not so right,

    Rgs.,

    Cecilia

You need a keyboard with enlarged keys - one like
http://www.adapt-it.org.uk/products/bigkeys-lx-abc-layout-black-uppercase-letters-on-white-keys-usb.asp
and the cheapest netbook you can find with Windows. All he needs to do to make it speak is to either use a site like this one
http://text-to-speech.imtranslator.net/
or install a program like
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Office-tools/Other-Office-Tools/Text-To-Speech-Converter.shtml
or, even better

Unfortunately no kids "laptop" is powerful enough for that - you will need at least a netbook: a very simple and small laptop in which you can install the recommended programs.

Hi

Desktop PCs automatically seek an external monitor to output graphics to. Laptops default settings send the image to the internal monitor. You need to manually instruct the laptop to export the image to an external monitor.

With the cable connected and the monitor powered up, try pressing the Fn key (bottom left of keyboard) on the laptop and simultaneously pressing the function key at the top ofthe keyboard with an image of 2 monitors (often F5 or F6) to sent d the image to the external screen.

I hope this helps.

Hi There,

Your laptop needs some troubleshooting and here's the fastest (and free) way to locate your issue. Get to a friend's place (or at home) where there's a regular desktop computer monitor and connect your laptop to it. Look up at the top row of "F" keys (1 thru 12) and find the one that looks like it has to do with a monitor. With your laptop connected to the external monitor, press the "fn" key in the lower left of keyboard and hold it doen while your press the monitor transfer F key above.

If your laptop's normal display shows on the big monitor, then you just have a bad sceen that needs replacement. If all is dark on both, then your video card inside the laptop has faild and a new motherboard is needed.

Kind Regards,

I have a dell inspiron 700m willnot display

Hi There,

The best way to begin the troubleshooting process for your problem is to connect your laptop to an external monitor. If you don't have one at home I hope you can ask a friend to allow your to use theirs for a few minutes.

With the laptop off, and the monitor off, connect your laptop to the external monitor. Next turn on the monitor. Finally, turn on your laptop and on one of the F keys in the row of keys above the regular keyboard letters should be one key that either shows what looks like a little monitor screen/screens or as on most Dells, one key will say CRT on it and it's usually the F8 key.

Hold down the fn key in the lower left hand corner and hit the F key as described above that's assigned to make you switch from the laptop screen to the external monitor.

If the monitor ahows what you'd normally see on your laptop screen, then you know that your laptop screen has worn out and needs to be replaced. If both screens are black then your problem is much more serious and the odds are greatest that your video card/controller on the motherboard has failed. For most laptop repair guys this means replacing the entire motherboard.

I sincerely hope the problem is the first one because it's the least expensive. If not, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but then you at least know the truth of your situation. Also, a favor? If the worst case scenario, remember I didn't do it (grin) so please don't thrash my reating. I'm a professional laptop repair specialist just trying to lend a hand.

Best of luck to you.

I am unable to add lg monitor to my notebook acer aspire one suggestions

How big is the monitor? Are you sure that your are activating the function to display on an external monitor? Usually you have to hold down the FN key along with another key. The other key is usually one of the F1 - F12 keys. Whatever the key is, it should have the icon of 2 displays or 2 computers on the key. If the monitor is too big it may not display on it. Aspire One's don't have alot of processing or video power.

Model 9109; above numeric pad there is three lights, right most light is a down pointing arrow with a line under it. It is lit and I can't turn it off, and I believe it is effecting my movement in excel.

On the 10 key pad you will see a Num Lock key. Pressing this will take the light off and restore the functionality you are talking about.

Tab key hanging loosely unable to use

I take it that the TAB key has come loose from the keyboard. Usually when the keys come off a laptop keyboard, they can be clipped back into place. However, the keys usually have a scissor like support on the underside of the key, which have small plastic pins that need to be latched onto the keyboard itself.

To be honest they are a pain to reattach, so if you have the patience and a steady hand, give it a go, otherwise I would get a repair tech/engineer to look at it. It may be that the key is damaged, in which case you will more than likely need to replace the keyboard, as key caps don't usually get sold separately.

It sounds like the keyboard is bad. Check the two bflat connectors from the keyboard to the PC board, if they are connected ok a keyboard is in order.

Monitor is in sleep mode and I here a beep periodically

Try change the keyboard, if the pc does not detect the keyboard or a key from the key board is stuck which gives something like tic tic sound. On the other hand the display from monitor "sleeping mode" indicates the VGA cord is faulty or monitor is no compatible to the PC's video card.

Sleep mode on a dell monitor

Hold down the function key on your keyboard (lower left hand side of your keyboard between the control key and the windows key) and the F8 key simultaneously. This cycles through all monitor set up modes.
