You will have to change your cartridges with new and originals. if this will not solve the problem you will have to change your printhead.

Did you replace the tri-colour ink-cartridge, or did you replace the print-head mechanism?

Are you sure that the CYAN part of the ink-cartridge is not empty?

I haven't got anything on screen to indicate the content of the ink cartridges. I am trying to print some coloured photos and they are coming out just muted colours and I query how much ink is left.

I don't know which brother printer you are talking about. For some brother printers, you can press go button 3 times within 2 second to print the printer settings. It that page, it shows how much ink left. Please check your printer manual for specific model.

As you dont want to use the colour ink,When you give the print command you wil get the print properties page ,In that you can select black and white so that you wil not use up the colour catridge. It uses black catridge only.

Pinkish tint in photo color copies ....... Is there a way to adjust the color ?

The "secondary" colours are produced by mixing the "primary" colours. One of the "primary" colours inside your inkjet cartridge is out of ink, and the resulting "actual" mix is not the "theoretical" mix.

Refill or replace the ink-cartridge.

Using Canon iP4600, I'm trying to print a black-and-white photo with a black background and a half-tone image in the front, but I keep getting purplish and black stripes instead of an all black background....

Hi there

Sometimes, printers use colors from the other cartridges in order to form a deep black colour. It does seem that not enough pure black ink is getting onto the paper.

Can you check that there is enough black ink remaining? If so, go to the print options of the program from which you are trying to printer the image, and set the colour output to black or greyscale only. This may be within an option called Printer Preferences from the Print dialogue window of the program from which you are printing from.

Then, print an image as a test and see if it comes out in black only this time.

I look forward to your reply.

Regards

Canon pixma ip4200 colours are yellowy orange on teh photos - dont match on screen colour nozzle check shows the second of the cyan lines as very faint

(Had already done two deep cleans)
1. removed all print cartridges keeping them together and upright
2. qtip (cotton ball on a small plastic stick) soaked in generic nail varnish remover {alcohol based)
3 cleaned print head where cartridge sits repeatedly until no more ink came off on the cotton wool
4. did a deep clean twice
printer then functioned properly

Trouble printing to photo paper

The paper you print on is not relevant. What happens is the green tint is the actual printer delivering all the colours to give a 'composite' black. On shiny photo paper this is emphasized where as on plain paper the colour is absorbed and shows as intended. So what can you do? Move away from black and go for a tint such as sepia.
