Question about Linksys Wireless N Gigabit Router

1 Answer

I cant seem to install it

I have 2 desktops: an old xp and a brand new vista. When i try to install it on either desktops i get stuck at the part where it says "enter your internet connection type" i know it is DHCP because i called my isp Verizon 3+ times and they said that it was probably a linksys problem...so they rerouted me to linksys and they just told me to go back to verizon. I called both companies numerous times spending hours trying to fix it...but both didn't offer up a solution. How can i install this on my xp so that my vista can wirelessly connect to it? i currently have a verizon modem attached to the xp and my vista is wirelessly connected to it but it is slow (5 mbps) and the connection is poor...how can i update it to the speed 10/100/1000 like it advertised and get a reception of "excellent"?

Step 3: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
Step 5: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 6: Power on the computer on and configure the router settings. access the router setup page and set the router to to PPPoe and enter your complete ISP username(email address format) and password. save settings and click the connect button on the status tab

If you have Windows 7 you will run into some problems you need to go to Linksys.com and download the most recent driver and then try you will most likely have to unistall the other driver.

The operating system on my PC is XP and I bought a new HP laptop with Vista. I cant seem to get the wireless feature to work now - it worked fine with my previous laptop running XP.

I'm assuming that your Vista has a built-in wireless.. If so, the first thing you need to check is if the wireless function is turned on (usually by pushing Fn + F2. Check from your laptop manufacturer). Then follow these instructions: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/help/88ea056e-664a-4c3d-b977-13f79cb4dedb1033.mspx
