Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I live in Saudi Arabia (us mil) and recently got an atc dvp12tud, that gets our american cable stations play every kind of DVD, has pc in and fm. Only problem is I have a cable box that gets extra channels and when I hook up AV in the picture rolls. All my other american TV/DVDs are fine on AV in and I even have a smaller ATC travel DVD player and it doesn't have this problem. can anyone suggest a work around? All cables and connectors have been thoroughly tested and the unit has NO other issues. Realize it could just be shoddy quality control.

I changed everything possible to change before I posted. It is set to NTSC and the TV tuner function is working correctly. the AFN standard (Armed Forces Network) is NTSC which plays correctly on the TV function.. I can't make changes which onlyaffect the AV signal. A bit more info--I have my whole villa wired up with RCA cables so that I can watch a program in any location in the house. Its a bit like Xmas tree lights--if any connection is loose they all act badly so I've become quite good at trouble shooting and stabilizing the connections.. I can play DVDs from several locations as long as everyother device is set to "line in". Oddly, this ATC will display properly in AV in for DVDs played at a remote DVD player--no rolling.

However when I switch to displaying a cable program from the only cable box we have every unit displays correctly EXCEPT for this one rolling. This includes correct display on my other small ATC portable DVD player--which I am using as my control subject. The small DVD recieves the AV signals that roll on the DVP12tud just fine.

The small unit also has a TV tuner and for some reason they didn't put NTSC as a choice so the best I could do was a European format--which allows me to tune AFN channels in TV mode--but I can't get the sound.

I tried matching the problem unit's setting to the same standard on the control ATC DVD player--but that didn't stop the rolling in AV (just made the TV function work incorrectly).

    So any other ideas?

Thanks! It likely varies from unit to unit as well. We often thing the US is overregulated--but it is amazing how many fast failures, glitchy performance and even electrical fires we've endured because there are NO standards here.

The picture rolls because the vertical scan frequency in the signal coming from the box doesn't matches the native one from the monitor and, for some unknown reason, it can't adjust it automatically.Try changing the image setup or the image/country standard

If only this unit is acting badly then it's incapable of syncing to the NTSC signal. Sorry, there is nothing you or anyone can do to fix that, it was designed to work strictly on PAL. And it's very easy to check that: try viewing a local tv channel with the onboard tuner. If the image is ok then you will know for sure.

How to get the dvd player to play threw my truck speakers?

if you dvd play came with a wireless fm modulator read the owner manual and set up the fm station to get it to work . if it does not have a built in fm modulator you need to buy one.

the pull out your radio and run power to the fm modulator and then connect the factory anntenna to one side of modulator and the other side goes back to your factory antenna location at radio . then set the fm station you set for the fm modulator run a set of rca cables from the fm modulator to the dvd flip screen and it should work . i would think your flip screen dvd play would have a built in fm modulator that is wireless .

Disc Region eror

you may have a different region on you dvd to your dvd player. say your dvd player was 1st region you can only play 1st region dvds if you try a 2nd or 3rd region dvd it would not work. you can go to a dvd specialist to get it tuned to a multiregion dvd player.
go to a dvd player shop and ask if they know how to tune it.
