After less than five months of use, my keyboard usage is shrinking. I can only use the number keys 5 and 6, two of the arrow keys {up and to the left}. At first I could take out the battery and it would come back. Then I would get it all back except the one key. Now my universe is diminishing and all the solutions from the control panel say to use the virtual keyboard. It won't let me reboot from and earlier day when my whole keyboard functioned. This sucks!

No you dont have to open the entire laptop or remove the lcd i just replaced my keyboard all you have to do is remove the powerbutton bar remove the battery and the memory cover there is 5 screws is the battery compartment take them out and there is one screw in the middle if the memory and w-lan compartment take it out and the keyboard will come out simple as pie and then just reversve what you did to put the new keyboard back in

You have to open up the entire laptop, including Removing the LCD, and then remove the wires from the keyboard once opened, and you should be able to remove the keyboard, after you removed the screws holding it in.

Water was dropped on the keyboard and system went down and never came back on. like it blew a fuse or circut. is there a free down load for a manual for hp pav. dv6000?

The Maintenance and Service Guide for the HP Pavilion dv6000 Notebook PC
here
http://www.laptopmanualshub.com/hp_laptops/hp_pavilion_notebook_pc.html
which include a complete breakdown step by step.

I found a complete tear-down on a web site for you here http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/HP-Pavillion-dv6000-Teardown/1744/1

Another one here http://www.insidemylaptop.com/take-apart-hp-pavilion-dv6000-laptop/

and many videos showing tear-downs with this search http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=HP%20Pavilion%20dv6000z%20tear%20down&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbo=u&tbs=vid:1&source=og&sa=N&tab=wv

place parts near a warm fan for a few days, the longer the better.

let me know if this helps or not
Thank you

Missing notebook key

Hi,

Unfortunately, yes....You cannot purchase a new KEY.

If you have an old keyboard, or you can go to any of the local shops, they might have wasted keyboard.....And you can ask for a single key.

Use the below procedure to attach the key to our keyboard.

Thanks.

Sound

That's what you'll need to replace:http://cgi.ebay.com/HP-Pavilion-DV6000-Power-Button-switch-cable-431437-001_W0QQitemZ150330305199QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLaptops_Nov05?hash=item150330305199&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A15|39%3A1|240%3A1318

It's right under keyboard.

Top letter keys on keyboard not typing

I think its likely to be a hardware problem but check that your keyboard settings are correct for your country. Look in the control panel and then Keyboard settings.
Does the tab key work?

HP DV6000 Laptop

Find someone to go do this for you. Or ... send it in if it's under warranty. Have you ever taken a laptop apart? Not easy, but putting it back together can be harder, especially on the laptop.

You can go to the HP website and see about ordering a keyboard. Try me. Go to HP and enter 'HP DV6000 laptop" in the search area. You'll need to go thru the scores of model numbers to find your system. Then they will probably send the wrong keyboard, or even a mouse. Get someone to do it for you.
