it's two way to make this: connect the cell phone to pc with data cable and install nokia pc suite from the net or activate IR from phone and IR from pc, if you have. the easy way is to conect a data cable and download pc suite from nokia site.

Yes
I have experienced this problem. What you need to do is plug the usb cable into the computer before switching the computer. Make sure you don't plug the other end into the mobile phone yet.
Once the machine boots up. If you've installed nokia pc suite. It an icon will appear in the taskbar. Click on it can't remember whether its right or left click, but you need to select manage connections. Now if you are using a genuine nokia data cable you shouldn't have problems but if it isn't then you need to uncheck the usb options and check the option called 'serial'. Once you've done this a button called properties or settings or configure which is greyed out should become active. Then from the drop down box you will have various options eg. com1, com2, com3. What normally happens is when you don't have the cable plugged into the usb port only com1 will be displayed. But when the usb cable is plugged in com 3 or com 4 will appear. So you select com 3 or com 4, then OK. Wait for a few seconds then connect you other end of the usb cable to your mobile and it should recognise it after a few seconds.
