Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you found this helpful.

I read the lens getting stuck "Switch off and swirtch on again" solutions given by you, and tried all of them other than trying compressed air, but there was no joy (including tapping on the palm). In fact for a fraction of a second, the lens did focus but then again, we were back to normal (non-working mode). Would be grateful if you have any further tips. Thanks

How can I fix the screen on my Lumix DMC-FX30 which does not illuminate?

First, check the display settings.

Next, the camera usually switches back to its default when the shutter release is touched. Check those settings, too.

Disassemble

Do NOT attempt any potentially damaging repairs before consulting with the manufacturer. For one, it might void your warranty. You can start off by checking out the user manual for your device:

Try turning the camera on and off, as well as removing the battery and placing it back in. It could also be that the camera itself is faulty. Try checking the user manual for a solution that might be relevant to you:

Hi, How can i use my dmc-fx30 as webcam ? Jan The

I know this probably isn't the answer you wanted to see, but here goes.

The Lumix was designed as a camera, storing images (and videos) to a memory card. It was not designed to stream video live to another device. It's a camera, and cannot be used as a webcam.

My dmc-fx30 When i turned it on the camrea shut down and is tuck in an on posion when its off so i charged my batterie and put it back in And nothing

Your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your batteries may need to be replaced, or the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.
