My email pops up dial up and i have comcast can,t send email

Go to Tools
click Options
click Mail setup
click Email accounts
click View or change existing account
Choose your account
click Change
click More Settings
Click on connection
choose connect using my local LAN
uncheck connect via modem and phone line
While you are there Change the out going port from 25 to 587.
Comcast now uses port 587
click Advanced
Out going server (SMTP) should be 587
Click on Out Going Server
Check the box My out going server (SMTP) requires Authentication
click OK
click next
click Finish
click OK

Cant get my emails

Many factors depend on your email service provider (,,, ...) The "confirm" message generally applies when creating some other non-email type account (like with your bank), where they send an email with a hot link to click on, to verify that you did not give them a bogus email address. Of course you need access to your email account to respond to these types of messages. If you have forgotten your password, there is usually a rest password option. If not, or you have forgotten your user ID name, you will have to call their support, or just setup a brand new email account and start over.

Well it can be a bit complicated but I will try to make this less painful for you. Go to a free email service just to start out doing email. Choose something like gmail or yahoo for now. They offer free email for you. You will be asked to insert your information and choose a username and a password choose both of those and make sure to write them down or remember them I write them down until I can remember them I use just one username and a password for everything. Once this is done you will be sent an email to confirm then you can click the link to go to your email box.
You will have to get email address's from your friends to be able to send them email. Go to where it says write mail put their email exactly where it says send to and type in a subject and then start writing your note when done click on send.
Lets say you already were given an email by your provider or your provider sends you to a page to work with Outlook or another software email program you will need to know the POP information the SMTP info as well as the proper settings to use email programs such as Outlook which configures it easy for you the first time just type you full name in the start screen and password be sure to check the save password box then it will do it automatically for you. Then click on choose account. These work for most POP email programs. I would at first start off using a free service until you get used to emailing and receiving email from others.
If you already have email from a free service then just go to or whichever is your service provider web page email section. Then login and then go to email. Do the same process as described above. Once you get there send me an email this can be your first email to anyone. I hope this kinda explains some of the process to doing this. John

Can receive but can't send email

I can receive but can't send mail using my POP mail client. Why? If you're able to receive but unable to send mail using your POP mail client (such as Outlook), please review the possible trouble areas below.
SMTP Server
In the fight against unsolicited commercial email (spam), some Internet service providers require their subscribers to send mail through the ISP's own SMTP servers. If you experience problems sending email, please contact your ISP to determine if it requires different SMTP server settings. You will need to use the ISP's SMTP server in place of Yahoo!'s SMTP server when configuring your POP mail client.
The following is a partial list of ISPs that require you to use their SMTP servers. If your ISP is among them, try replacing the Yahoo! SMTP server with the ISP server in your POP mail client settings, or consult the ISP's help files. (Learn more about configuring your client.) If your ISP does not appear in the list below, please contact your ISP directly for more information.

We can recieve pictures in our email but we cant send them. Is this a problem in our internet service or computor

Most likely your outgoing mail protocal is not set correctly. Your outgoing mail say if you had comcast and were using outlook would be like this:
your outgoing would look like this:
comcast uses POP3 or "post office protocal version 3"
Not ISP's use POP3 but alot do. Check your settings or call your ISP "internet service provider" to be sure they should be able to resolve your issues. If you are a comcast user and are using outlook this should solve your issue.

Comcast home page is stuck on August 25th. Cannot sign out,

I am not sure if I understand your problem correctly or not. How I am understanding this is that your dialup will not refresh or work on comcast's homepage. Thus not allowing you to logon to your email account. But your dialup will work on other parts of the net.

If this is the problem:
First, clear your internet cache. If that doesn't work, then try using a different browser. If you are using Internet Explorer, try using is free.

If your comcast account is not assessable from any computer, you need to call comcast tech support and see if there is a problem with your account.

Unable to get emails from Outlook Express. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity....

Who is your ISP? Is your Outlook Express correctly configured? Make sure your servers are correctly defined, ie for Comcast it might use for incoming, and for sending. Your ISP has these server names they can give you.

Gateway laptop cannot attach files

Are you using the Comcast webmail site?
After you address the mail and click "add an attachment" you should see the browse button so you can go find the attachment. Once you click on it and attach it, you and tell it to send.
That's all there is to it.
If the website is not working, you need to contact Comcast tech support.

did comcast recently buy out your company where it is now your default company...depending on the original company.

do you use outlook express or microsoft mail...?

try setting your email address through there, or get a yahoo, hotmail, gmail, or anyother type of browser email.

FYI, I use Thunderbird as my mail client and rarely access the mail via the ISP site.
You can try that. Your pop setting should be
Your SMTP settting should be
Set it up with your username and password and check it out.
You may have to tell the program to use the same username and password for the SMTP server as the incoming mail.
