Question about Philips Projection Televisions

1 Answer

I have a Philips TV model: 27pt9015d. at the top of the screen several horizontal lines have appeared. it looks like the top inch is being cut off and then flipped back. that is - when credits are rolling up, when they get to the top of the screen they start comming back down for about two inches. can this be fixed using the horizontal/vertical adjustment or cleaning inside of the TV?

I took the cover off, but i can't find the vertical adjustment. I found screws labeled focus and screen, but nothing similar for the vertical. Any idea where it might be?

Sounds like the vertical adjustment has spanned beyond the screen, causing it to jump up and then upside down. after the cover is removed look for vertical adjustment and with a non-conductive screwdriver, adjust it a little bit either way to see if it fixes it, if it doesn't fix it, then look again for the right one.

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

I have a KF-42E200A Sony Bravia LCD tv. Recently we had to replace the lamp. Since then a horizontal line appeared at the top of the screen and it has grown to about 3 inches now. The picture itself is...

The lenses in the TV are more than likely misaligned due to heat from lamp. The heat can cause the lenses to move and the red shaded horizontal line appears over time because the lenses fall out of alignment.

You just need to have the lenses realigned and the red shading will go away.

JVC TV 27" Black line on top of screen

This is for the original problem.. Not the second post.

It's a problem in the horizontal deflection circuit. The parts will be available, but you will be in for some daignostic repairs also to find out why it failing or if it has failed on it's own.
There should be a few caps near the IC (an LA7840) that could also be causing the problem. Click the link, it will make it easier to locate the part inside.

This is the kind of repair best left to a TV tech, but get it done now and it won't cost anywhere near as much as it will later.

Horizontal Lines On Screen

horizontal lines = horizontal sync off . mitsbishi always seemed to have this problem .. on the older sets I would take the back off and inside deep on the board i would adjust a pot and sync it right .... and never had a recall, maybe your newer model has this too .. this little control,

but its a horizontal sync problem.

if no change the horizontal processing ic.

No Blue. Horizontal Lines.

Not to me, but it also depends on if you could do this yourself or not. And the area you are in sometimes is responsible for the cost being high.
