Question about Toshiba gigabeat MES60VK Digital Media Player

MES60V suddenly stopped charging.

I didn't use it much, but one day before a trip, I plugged in the factory charger and it showed the deep blue "Gigabeat" screen for about ten seconds and then a yellow triangle with number 5 in it came up and it said to "Contact manufacturer for repair" message. I've tried contacting Toshiba and they don't even list the model any more on the Gigabeat site. I don't know what the Error 5 is for. I have managed to get a blank screen and the battery symbol on it by putting charger on it and hitting the top button ( I forgot what it does now) on the side after resetting it with the battery on/off switch with a paper clip. It showed about 60% charge when the symbol showed. It looks like it's charging, but I can't tell.

If it charges, I'll let you know, otherwise, what is error 5 and why return it to manufacturer?

Download, and install the firmware. It should work after that. It might of formatted the storage partition of the device, but you can resync it after you update the firmware on the device. You can get the firmware here: Gigabeat S Firmware.

Try Putting it into DFU mode and restoring it. While plugged in, hold the power and home button together, let go of power button after 10 seconds and keep holding home button.

All of a sudden it will not turn on....nothing...when plugged into the usb...it say fully charged....but if you disconnect..and try to turn it on.....nothing happens..


If you can turn your player on while being plugged to your PC/Laptop or USB charger, then your internal Lion battery is most likely gone past its useful life (some 500 charges or 18 months usage) and may need replacing. Most MP3 player may show 'fully charged' when plugged in either when the battery is truly fully charge or defective battery is no longer taking a charge: e.g. minimum or no current flow situation.

Doesn't turn on


If charging by USB is not charging your player enough to even be able to power up, then you're going to have to get hold of an AC wall charger that plugs into the ZVM's round DC-IN jack (on the sync adapter). PSP chargers work perfectly, if you have one. Let it charge for a few hours this way, then post back.

Toshiba Gigabeat MES60V will not hold charge


I am trying to register an Adobe program on my computer and I can't because the program says my serial number is invalid. It seems like there are many people with this problem.

Philips Go Gear hdd075/17 stopped working suddenly!


Why not simply try charging it up, I assume it came with a charger? Other than that I do not know

Not swich off


Hold down the stop button for 15 seconds to try and force the unit to power off. Then leave it for a couple of days whilst the charge dissipates. Look at the charger you used and compare its output voltage to that of the Archos one. If the voltage is higher than the Archos one it is quite likely that the charge circuit and or the battery may have been adversely affected. If the unit still misbehaves after a few days changes are you will need to have it looked at. If it is in warranty, try a claim, but do not mention you used the wrong charger!
