The stock Palm Life Drive is limited to a 2GB SD card. It is not a matter of hit and miss brands. Since Palm stopped supporting this device the only source of real expansion solutions is at palmpwerups.co. There you can purchase drivers to not only upgrade your SD reader to high capacity cards, but also get PowerDrive to swap out the hard drive for ANY Compact Flash card.
There are other enhancement available also. As well, other sites, such as http://ahsirg.kvplab.com, dedicated to keeping this device viable have useful little programs.

That should behttp://palmpowerups.com. Also, the SDHC card driver has become a free giveaway. So a big thank-you and tip of the hat to the developer, Dmitry Grinberg.

If the sdcard is the right type and size all you need to do is fully insert it into the slot. Its spring loaded so it will pop up if it isn't quite far enough in. It should only fit one way.

Generally the LD likes 2gb and smaller sdcards , it can use bigger such as 4gb but that's when you can be hit or miss. That depends on brand and sd version. If you search for a list of LD compatible sd cards you should find out what card to use or buy.

"Media not recognised" Documents to Go error

- Eject the card - Open Document to Go - While still opening the application (in the browser screen), insert the card back to device. The browser will show the card on the top right. - Just close the application as usual. Reopen again, and it should be back to normal.

Make sure your card is an "SD" card and not "SDHC" which means you can only use expansion cards up to 2GB only. There are, however 4GB SD cards, but are now either hard to find or are more expensive. There are SDHC drivers around but you have to pay for those.

Trying to insert a 2gb expansion card into my palm

A lot of palm haldhelds only support SD cards up to 1gb. The 2gb and up ones are not supported. So check your manual and figure out waht the maximum size of sd card is in your palm, or try a smaller size SD card.

Apps in LifeDrive partition don't show up in Favorites or built-in Launcher??

Apps and datafile should be put into the Lifedrive\Applications directory. The OS looks there, some older apps may not find their data there and be 'hardwired' to look in the old SD card neighborhood and you will have to add the Palm\Launcher direcdtory to store those files. The Lifedrive\Documents folder was intended for Doc2Go datafiles only and many other programs don't know to look there. The standard OS can find the files if you put them in the right place. Power-run is great if you want to 'organize' your stuff to places the OS was not designed to look.

Finding data on SD or MMC

The Palm OS "Find" application does not look at the content in SD or MMC expansion cards inserted in your handheld. It only searches through data stored in the internal memory of your handheld. There are many third-party searching utilities available.
