Passenger door is offset, thus pushing the front fender in when the door is opened. What do I need to replace? The door hinge? I'm trying to troubleshoot and help my son fix all the issues with his car.

Hello. The right front fender, still, must be removed to gain access to the passenger side door mounting bolts. The door hinges are, probably, 'tweaked' so very minuscule movement can be done. If the door hinge bolt holes are 'widened', then more 'movement' can be attained. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

study the new fender and where there is a bolt hole then that is where you will find the bolts to remove on the old fender . They will normally be along the top inside , at the bottom near the door and around the bumper and up the panel that the door hinges are attached to
How exactly are the hinges ruined? To change the door on Sierras you drop out the pivots the hinge swings on. If the hinge bodies are the damaged part it's going to cost you money. You will need to get a GOOD body work specialist to cut out the old hinges and re-weld new ones in. Get the specialist to check the body and frame in case the wind has bent something else.
best bet is get the manufactures service manual its lot better than haynes usally can find on ebay cheaper ... also check compnine.com they have diagrams n oem parts
take a small piece of wood 1"x 3" x about 4" long and place inside door jam at hinge , slowly close door until it puts pressure on wood,... push door shut gently and remove wood and try shutting door , this is what they call redneck auto body. to do it right you will need to remove hinge and add washers to back side of hinge plate so it moves hinge out thus pushing door alignment back if hinge is welded on add washers to door side where hinges attach to door.
The problem is ur DOOR HiNGE BUSHiNG!
Test ur DOOR if it moves by lifting up, if it moves look at how the hinge plays, the BOLTS might only be loose and needs tightening!
Replacing the HiNGE BUSHiNG, pull out the PiN, that holds the hinge from the door to the body panel.
Look at the center hole, notice a copper/brass bushing, take it off and replace w/ new one!
U need 4 pcs. for each door!
Hope that might help u out!
Taah!
on the door remove the door panel and disconnect all wiring going to the door and feed it out of the door then unbolt the hinges or remove the hinge pins and the door is off on the fender take the corner marker light out unbolt from under hood and unbolt the plastic fender well and the fender should come right off
go look at the passengers side. take note of the door seam and fender seam width. its about the width of a piece of cardboad. additionally look at the door hinges on the passenger side. it may or may not have washer shims. if they do/dont then just match up with passenger side. it takes 2 people to hang the door. screw in door hinges "finger tight" just to take off the weight of someone holding the door. play with the hinges until you can open/close door without binding or crimping fender at the seam. do not over tighten hinge bolts until the door opens/closes unobstructed. bottomline 2 people needed. slow and tedious job. you may have to add or take shims(washers) out for good fit. note that you may have to add shims to the inner door hinges or to the fender hinges where they meet. hope this is clear instructions.
Sounds like the detent rollers on the door hinge are dry and need some grease (if the door has proper clearance on the front fender...check this first) spray some white lithium grease spray on the hinges and related moving parts on the door hinges upper and lower and the plastic guide that goes in the door... Let me know how it goes. KEN
