Question about Gateway GT4016 Desktop PC

My Gateway GT4016 has 4 usb ports. About 2 weeks ago they have stopped working.. I have done everything possible that I have found on the net to do. Unplugged computer, device manager, upgrade bios, etc... If I plug in a zip drive it lights up, but does not show up in my computer. I reallly need these to work again for my business....Especially my printer. PLEASE.. Any help for someone who has tried everything!!!!!!

I need to know few more from your end. Please let me know which USB port (if there are front and back ports).

Also check the Device Manager and verify "Universal Serial Bus Controller" is shown, if so please let me know the details and make sure it looks like this (show below and bordered with red border):

To open up the Device Manager, right-click "My Computer", select "Manage" and click "Device Manager" (circled above) on the new window.

Hi Good day!! Did you try System restore? if not follow this
Start > all programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore .
Before making a restore you have to create a restore point . While installing any softwares the system automatically creates a system restore point. Its easy to create the restore point just follow the wizard.

refresh the USB ports:
1. Right click MY COMPUTER
2. Select PROPERTIES
3. Select HARDWARE
4. Select DEVICE MANAGER
5. Select UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS
6. Right click on each USB CONTROLLER and select Uninstall
7. Uninstall all entries
8. Reboot your computer
9. As your computer re-boots it will reinstall all USB connections it detects
THEN, when all other USB items have been configured and connected by the system, you then should try connecting your USB drive

    Did this. Computer detects new hardware, but tells me it cannot find drivers and asks me for disk. Error code 25? and 17

Motherboard issue.assuming all the drivers are properly installed. Not uncommon. Use the remainder and if necessary get an adapter to increase the number of ports you have.

How this scanner can work on ECP printer port


Only old and some professional printed can use the ECP port. Modern printers, use USB ethernet and lately wireless.
Manufactures stopped making the ECP on printers, over 10 years ago.
Not knowing what Acer you mean I assume it does to have a port like this.
I found a strange cable on the net, but I'm not saying it will work.

Gateway USB ports stopped working


So maybe you need to install the drivers for the USB device you are trying to connect. Also, with the computer off, try cleaning all USB ports and plugs. You can buy electrical cleaner in a spray can at Radio Shack. Let it dry thoroughly before powering up. But to me it sounds like a driver problem. Unless maybe your USB BUS is going bad.

Most likely a motherboard problem, though you can try and re-do windows, best bet on getting it all to work is Turn off CPU, Unplug Power cable, And all usb devices, let it sit for about 20mins. Plug it all back in. Turn on the CPU! Though this might really get on your nerves having to do this multiple times, id get a new motherboard.

hi,
you can try the following steps.
Install the driver for the camera and the ipod as XP is preloaded with drivers for cameras for only selected models only.

Did you format it while connected to a PC? If so check that you didn't format as NTFS, the Pioneer HU can only read FAT32 I think.
