Most likely you will want to perform a system restore, but unfortunately that will remove everything from the hard disk. Here is another thing to try first that may help this issue:
Try the reset button. Turn the system off, not on standby but really off. No power, for an hour or longer. then turn it on. Push the on button for several seconds and it will reboot. The system will repair the hard-disk, and it will work again.
