Luckily, eMachine uses a generic system board. You can purchase a case from any computer store. The only thing to watch for is the plate in the rear of the motherboard, make sure it matches your ports. Again I believe you can use the one from your eMachine.

Front Power switch wire is broken

As long as the rating is the same as the power supply you should have no problems
Make sure to check your wiring and all the connections are correct or you could have one expensive paper weight.

EMachine T1440 will no boot on

There is a battery inside the pc, remove it and replace it with a new one. Leaving it unplugged for that long taxes the battery too much. This should help and also plug everything in and reset the power switch on the back.

EMachines not powering up

You may have updated windows to a point that this old machine cant handle the revamp. Kick back to an older ops system, although that poses security risks. Your motherboard may also have given up. Best advice - upgrade, and retire this machine to the recycle bin.

Power problem

look for a switch on the back of the computer by the power supply it must be in the I position not the O . if that will not work then the motherboard my be damaged or the power supply itself not the cord for it is very rare for a power cord to polarize any more. last the power button itself may be damaged but in al my years I have not found a bad power button yet. Always it has been the motherboard or the power supply.

Emachine with XP home edition doesn't start

Hi hearalso, down to the basic's. Replace power cord.
No help there than, remove the case's side panel to expose the motherboard. (Normally it is the left side panel while facing the front of the PC.)
Look closely for a small (green in color) led light. The power cord must be connected to the PC & connected to you're power strip but do not press the power on button on the PC.
The green led tell's you the board is receiving 5volts. Check all connections. Un-plug & reconnect every data & power connector in your PC. (Double check). There is a fuse inside your power supply that may have blown. Check you're manual page, Approva Statements B-1. Fuse Warning Instruction Caution.
Check fuse in power supply. (Unplug power cord before opening).
If you can not power up the PC after all of the above than if possible, swap out the power supply.
Replacing the power supply is the last step.

If you have more questions, feel free to ask.
Good Luck!

Mike

E-Machines 2862 Dead On Power-Up

I believe that the front button is not connecting to the switch for the power supply. Also make sure all internal connections are secure. Sometimes the button breaks from behind so that it cannot contact the switch. Let me know if it helps. There are other solutions if you tried this one first.
