Question about Nikon Coolpix 8700 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Can't transfer pictures

I'm having trouble loading the pictures. I'm borrowing this camera from someone who can't find THEIR usb cord, so I purchased one on ebay. I hook it up and the cam looks like it's responding. At first I thought the cord was broken, but it dims the way my other Coolpix does when I hook it up for transfer. I installed the software that I got from my lastest Coolpix and still no luck. Thanks for any help! By the way, I tried this on both XP and Vista and got the same results on both.

Make sure camera is turned on and you set it to mass storage device.
Usb cable may be faulty try/borrow another one.
Try another device with that usb cable. Your usb on pc may be faulty or you need to update drivers.

My new Canon G11, purchased in August,2010: 1) The camera cord (to load photos from camera to computer) is no longer interfacing, but the card works (I don't think it is the software as it malunctions on...

It sounds to me like one or more of the wires in the cord has broken, or there is a problem with the USB port on the computer. Try swapping to the other ports to see if the problem goes away before going forward.

If the problem is present on all ports and the camera is still under warranty, I would suggest contacting Canon directly and let them solve the problem.

You could also try purchasing / borrow a cable that fits if you want to save time without a camera / dealing with Canon.

Good luck!

How do i get my pictures on my camera onto my computer?

Hello. There are actually a few ways to do this. First of all you can take your camera to any photo shop, like the one at Walmart or RiteAid. They will transfer your photos for you to a computer disk. Another method, if your camera has an SD card is to remove that card from your camera and install it into the SD slot in most newer computers. Finally, using the USB cord that came with your camera, you plug the cord into both the camera and the computer and then merely open up the menu that will appear and down load the pictures to the computer. If you do not have the USB cord, take your camera to any Walmart or other computer store and purchase a cord for under ten dollars. J.

How can I get a PC/AV cord for my Toshiba PDR-M81 digital cameera? How else can I transfer my pictures to my PC?

if your camera has a media card.. (SD/MMC/Compact flash/MicroSD///etc..) remove the card from the camera and use that to transfer your media to your pc... to find a cord you would want to go to toshiba's website and look for a cord from them.. or take the camera to your local electronic store and ask someone there .. it might be a low cost mini usb cord that they supply... good luck

Need to know where I can purchase down load cord?

Well, after looking at a few pictures, I've determined that the type of USB cable it uses to transfer media to and from the computer is a pretty standard type of cable. You just need to take the MP3 player into Meijer or Walmart, and ask someone in the electronics department for a 5 prong USB cable. Or show them the bottom of the mp3 player and ask them for that type of cable. Like I said, you can get them anywhere that sells electronics basically.

Hope this helps :)

My USB cord quit working

If the pictures are stuck in your internal camera memory, you will need a cord to get them off unelss you can transfer them to your memory card first. You should be able to copy the pics there.

Trouble with Nikon Transfer D60

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo management program such as Picasa.
