Seeting may have got lost in yuor network. I would reset the router, and set it up again, It is possible it could have lost your IP.... thats a starter, take your laptop to other places where there is wifi and make sure its not your wireless card.

Dell inspiron m5030 netgear router

Limited connectivity
If you get a 'Limited connectivity" on you wireless connection on your laptop, it means that the wireless card on your laptop probably did not get an IP address from the wireless router.
To fix this problem, right click on the wireless icon on the Task bar and then click Repair.
This will force the wireless router to issue a IP address to the wireless card on the laptop.

No internet connection over wireless netwok

first of all make sure your wifi is turned on. In the lower right tool bar next to the time & date, click on the wifi, click open network & sharing. Click manage wireless networks. Hilight each and remove until it is completely empty. Restart your computer & you should be fine. If not there is a physical problem with your wifi.

If you are trying to connect the computer to the router with a cable the above diagram should help to explain the simple broadband signal path from the Ethernet or telephone wall socket, to the router and from the router to the computer's RJ45/Ethernet port. Once the computer is connected to the router by a cable is connected to a telephone wall socket or a ERJ45/Ethernet wall socket that has a 'always on' broadband internet signal coming into it, nothing else is required -> launch the Web Browser.
If you are connecting wirelessly the wall socket to the router part of the setup is the same but no cable is required between the router and the computer.
Enable the wireless function in your netbook, click on the image of two computers bottom right near the clock -> view available networks/connect to network -> click on the appropriate Netgear router signal -> connect -> launch the Web Browser.

Can I have my desktop PC and a HP laptop hooked to my netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Router WNDR3400 at the same time. Do they both have to be on the wireless? I dont know computer so it is really...

The answer is a qualified yes. They must have the ability to connect to wireless router. Some laptop and desk tops don't have WI-FI cards installed. They should also have the proper drivers for the cards. Good Luck.

Hi ;) I have n HP Laptop! & I have had my Laptop running Wirelessly Before... BUT...NOW...I need the Netgear Key to access the internet? I want to know how My Wireless back on Thankyou :) Nathaniel

To connect to your wireless router, the router needsits wireless settings to be configured with the SSID, encryption key etc., alsothe wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers cancommunicate with your wireless router. When you connect the cable or DSL modem to the router then you will be able to access the Internet.

I need a secure connection

Contact NetGear TechSupport, they will walk you through over the phone and connect to your computer over the internet (if you have wired internet to laptop already to assist with setup of Wireless Security.

ask for level 2 support, otherwise you will spend first 30 minutes talking to someone reading from a manual asking you non-essential questions.

Support is free if your router is still under its warranty.

I have a dell inspiron with netgear wireless router. windows vista

Do you have Xp or Vista?
The little computer on the tool bar is one of your network connections (you have 2, one wireless and one wired)
It ssems like the laptop is not connecting automatically to your wireless network. To change this go into whatever program you are using to configure wireless (it may be configured by netgear or by windows) and make sure you have your wireless netowrk selected as conect automatically and at the top of your list.

Hope that helps.

Wireless netowrking issue with the laptop

Try to configure the a static IP address for the laptop on the router. This is done buy finding the LAN MAC address(computer) on attached devices, then designating it a default IP.
