Try doing the following:

Solution 1: Inspect and clean your discTake a close look at the bottom side of your game, movie, or music disc (the side without a label or image). Are there scratches? Excessive scratches or smudges can prevent your console from reading the disc.

Clean your disc Hold the disc by the edges without touching the top or bottom surfaces.

  1. Using a soft, clean, slightly damp cloth, lightly wipe from the center of the disc outward.

Note Use ONLY water to clean the disc.
Try loading and running the disk. If it works, you need to remember to keep the discs clean and free of scratches. If that doesn't work, see step 2

Solution 2: Try other discsTry other discs to determine whether the problem happens with any disc or only with this particular disc.

If multiple game discs, DVDs, or CDs will not play:
  1. Make sure the media type and the disc region code are compatible with the console.
  2. Go to microsoft knowledge base and see if there is a problem with that specific disc
If the problem persists, try step 3:

Clear your game system cache. Here's how you do that:

1)On the console, go to MY XBOX then System Settings
2)Select MEMORY
3)Highlight the storage device, then press Y on your controller
4)Select Clear System Cache
5)If system cache is not available go to this link and try this button sequence:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971755/

If that doesn't work, try step 4:

Remove, reinstall hard drive by following the links to these articles:

Original xbox 360: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/906204/

Xbox 360 S: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2122754/

If those steps do not work, try this:

Disconnect memory units or USB flash drives
  1. Turn off your console.
  2. Unplug any memory units or USB flash drives attached to your console.
  3. Turn on your console.
  4. Try playing a game.

One of these steps should work. If not contact microsoft support. Good luck, and let me know how it goes.

Is it with everygame? I had the same problem with my xbox. If I tapped on the xbox after I closed the tray you could hear it read the disc. After awhile I was annoyed and afraid I could ruin a disc so I went to gamestop and had them fix it.

Xbox 360 wont read any disk

Im not sure on the warranty. A year ago i had the 3 lights and microsoft replaced it free of charge. Call them up and ask them because most likely you may have a faulty lens/drive.

Xbox 360 wont read discs

Microsoft Xbox have some common problem like red lights, E74 and Read Disc Error. Microsoft is providing extended warranty for red lights problem, Means you will have to spend some money in order to get this problem repaired from Microsoft also you will have to wait for 3-4 weeks to get your Xbox back. There are many reasons disc read error can occur in your Xbox like your disc might not be clean, laser might also be dirty and many more common problem. I would suggest you to first clean out the disc, you are using. If that don't solve the problem you can also take the help of DIY guide available at Internet. I think you have got good no. of options to get your Xbox repaired, Choice is yours.
