why is it coming from the dipstick?

  • monique_road Nov 12, 2010

Thank you for the quick and informative response. hubby was not trusting what the mechanic was telling him. just over filled the oil he told him and that it would burn off eventually. He's grateful and won't cause more damage. Will do the rebuild. :) Thanks again.

You have a damaged piston, failed piston seal, or scored piston.

Time for a rebuild.

To avoid more damage do not run it any longer.

Thanks!

I have a 46", 21 HP Craftsman riding mower. The

perhaps it is no oil or too much oil. Check oil level!
If it was too much it would be blowing oil or blue smoke out the exhaust.

Good luck! Hope this helps.

The blade engage lever on my 42" craftsman mower will not disengage completely

Get a can of penatating oil and spray the pivot point of the idler arm on the deck. That's the one that moves back and forth when you lift the blade engagement lever.
