Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

TOSHIBA SATELLITE P35-S611. Everything seems to be ok but it will display only on external screen. I have tried three different glossy screens that I know to be good with no success. I have tried Fn & F5 with no success. Any suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks, Jim Jackson

Make sure your graphic drivers are compatible with your screen display. Download the perfect driver for your laptop from Toshiba web sites. Then uninstall old graphic driver then reinstall. Then if still same issue then there should be some issue with connection from your screen to motherboard of laptop. For that you need to repair inside the laptop. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action I strongly suggest that you reinstall the motherboard driver. You may have a system crash on the graphic card that's why it won't work on external monitors.

If the problem still persists then there are two things to look at. First, the connection of the motherboard to the external monitor socket can be damaged or loose so you will have to use soldering gun and lead to attach it. If the motherboard and external monitor socket looks fine then the problem can be on the graphic card itself. This will sure need replacement for it to work.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Welcome to Fixya

Sounds like you are having a bad LCD there. Try to discharge electrostatic energy of the motherboard. Take out the battery and unplug the power adapter from the computer. Press and hold the power button for 30 secs. Put everything back in and turn on the computer.

Please let me know what happen after doing this.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Satellite P35-S611 has trouble charging

If you have to wiggle the power cord it is most likely the DC jack on the motherboard. It is usually the center pin in the the jack that breaks the solder point and the small tension band inside the jack housing weakens.

Slow Hard drive

That model is only IDE capable and has no SATA ports on the motherboard. You should get a faster IDE harddrive OR an external USB harddrive .

Screen problem.

Does your LCD look like this or similiar? (below) If it does, there should be a female plug similiar to the picture also below.
Hook smaller end of cable to your laptop, the other end to your external monitor. Turn on your laptop. If the vertical lines are not present then its probably your LCD, which will more than likely have to be replaced. If lines are present, then like tom19511 said it may be the video drivers. I've had this same problem with my Toshiba Satellite p35 5 times already. Toshiba had to replace my LCD each time. LCD's are more expensive than an inverter. Good luck, I hope you get it fixed.
