Glass can certainly jam it. There is spot in the center of the bottom of the disposal where you can insert an Allen wrench to turn it by hand. Try turning it backwards to free jammed material. Then with power off, take a flashlight and look inside to see if there is anything in the disposal. You can use tongs or long needle nose pliers to remove glass or other obstruction. It should spin freely with the allen wrench. If it hums too long the overload will trip. You can reset it by pushing the red button on the bottom back in. GOOD LUCK! Let us know if this helps!

Stuck Sony CDP-CX355 Carousel CD player - door won't open, just hums

Something must be jammed so a trip to a Technician will resolve that. This is one of the reason I never buy changers of any kind because over the years I have had to fix so many cartridge, platter and other changers that are all designed poorly enough to make the 90 day period but not last too much longer. The Sony ES models are the best but they were big money back then- I have a broken one in my shop now.

Our dishwasher seems to have stopped working over night. The power button comes on and the unit beeps to acknowledge start, but then there is only a very light hum & the unit does not start. No water...

Most dishwashers go through a pumping cycle to evacuate any water remaining from its previous run, before opening the water valve to let in fresh water.

The pump sits just below a screen on the bottom of the inside of the dishwasher.Generally, this pump is located in the far back of the dishwasher. You may need to remove the lower sliding rack to gain access to this part of the dishwasher.

Check to see if something is stuck into or below the screen, which may be stopping the pump from turning. This condition would cause the hum you describe. Use a flashlight to look first.

Be careful as you run your hand over the screen or over the pump impeller to feel for debris, because quite often the problem is that a glass has broken inside the dishwasher and a broken shard of glass is lodged in the screen, poking down into the pump. The first time I encountered this condition, I cut myself on these lodged shards of clear glass because they are nearly invisible in the poor lighting conditions which exist inside the dishwasher. It could also be a straw, bottle cap, or some other type of debris. If the screen is missing, a fork or spoon could be stuck in the pump impeller.

Sliding shade is stuck and won't slide. Glass is down in 1 corner, not flush with roof

the shade may be related to sunroof not closeing completely, the most common reason is the track is broken , this is the most common reason for when the sun roof doesnt close or jams when opening or closing its always the track breaks, the way to check this is to easy the headliner needs to be dropped and removed and then the glass from sunroof removed then unbolt track and drop down into car and check the track linkage and arms and track and see whats broken, note there are no replacement parts only motor or cable, as far as the parts that always break like an arm on the track this is not replaceable the track needs to be replaced, hope this helps , good luck.

Broken glass stuck...

About the least dangerous way of cleaning it out would be with a vacuum cleaner. You may have to break the glass up a bit to get the pieces small enough to pull into the hose or perhaps use the suction to hold the pieces to pull out of the unit. Last resort would be to remove the unit from below the sink and invert it to remove the glass. You would have to disconnect plumbing to do this, but it might be the only thing you can do. You could also find tools used to pick up dropped parts that operate with a claw at the end. They are about 18-24 inches long and certainly small enough to fit into the drain. You can get them at home stores for less than $10.

Broken glass AEG hob

Hello,
If it is just the edge of the corner glass not a lot you can do if it is broken nearer the inside be very careful as the weight of pans can cause the break to spread.Check serial no. on base of hob body the first 2 digits are the year and 3rd digit is weeks in year. For example 92800055 that would be 2009 and 28th week equals july 2009.Any AEG unit has 2years full warranty.Check and you might be able to claim new glass.Hope this helped.

Turn on unit and motor just hums

Hi, the motor is bound up for some reason. Be careful when checking around the bottom of tub for broken glass that may have worked its way in around the impeller. If you are handy, and can get to the pump and motor assembly, unplug it and see if you can insert a lever to the shaft of the motor and break it free. If not, the motor and pump will have to be removed. If it cant be freed up, the motor is more then likely gone and have to be replaced. Good Luck.

Kenmore 665.1435. fills but does not wash. makes humming noise.

Check to see if you have any obstructions (broken glass, etc.P)) that may have worked their way into the drain sump area in the bottom of the dishwasher. It is possible that something has jammed the pump motor, hence the humming sound.

Most dishwasher use one pump/motor to both wash and pump out the diswasher, so if it gets jammed, it won't do much except hum. You might have to remove the dishwasher from under the counter to remove the pump unit to get at the obstruction, but be sure to disconnect the power, water inlet and discharge lines first. You'll also need plenty of towels and a sponge to get as much water as possble out of the dishwasher first. Have a bucket handy!

Normally broken glass or small stuff can get into the pump mechanism and lodge between the impeller and the pump housing, causing the motor to jam and hum, as it cannot spin freely. With a few basic hand tools (nut drivers and screwdriver) you should be able to get at the problem and resolve it fairly easily.

Worse case is that the motor has failed (has gone bad) and will need to be replaced, but it is worth first checking for a n obstruction to determine if that's the problem before having to buy an expensive motor.

My 44in rca dlp picture is black and is making a humming sound

It sounds like to me theat the new lamp is faulty. If there is any pieces of glass in the lamp compartment, remove them so they will not travel and get wedged in places they should'nt be.
Hope this helps,

Tempstar dc90 furnace will not light

Possible solution would be to push the reset button if you haven't already. I have had to do it twice on my dc90 in the last week.

If you look at the glass where you can see the combustion chamber, the glass is oval, follow the long axis of the oval toward the 'top' of the ignition chamber (my unit is laying down, with the blower on the west end and the combustion chamber on the east, as I am facing south). On top of the chamber are two protected spade clips. In between them is the reset. Make sure that the unit is off, press the button, and fire it back up.
