Question about Televison & Video

HT3061a, Advent TV. Here's where happened. I turned the tv on with my left hand, had my right hand on the volume buttons (side of tv) in case the volume was loud. It wasn't too loud but I left my right hand on the buttons. I (just messing around) swiped the front of my tv with my left had removing the static. Both hands popped with electricity. Tv turned it self off, then immediately back on. Now the tv will not cut off unless I unplug it and none of the buttons will work. The power button is seperate, it has no effect on tv. the volume/channle/menu buttons are on the side, they will not do anything. the remote censor is seperate, remote will not function at all. I've opened the tv, unhooked the power button first, didn't help. I unhooked the remote sensor, did not help. lastly I reattached the remote sensor and unplugged the button assembly to see if I could change anything with remote.. Nothing. Even with all three of these things unhooked the tv will power itself on when I plug it up. All three of these thing connect to each other and then onto the main board of the tv.. I can only use my tv to watch satellite (chan 60) because that's what channel it was on when it went bad. I know I could buy a high priced rf modulator to operate on channel 60 but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a possible fix.. I'm pretty knowledgeable regarding electronics, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the quick response. Please see the attached picture, I'm assuming your talking about the board on the left. I havn't replaced it but I've tested it to the best of my ability. Also note, that both of the LED's remain lit constantly when the board is attached. Does it make sense that the television comes on automatically with all these boards detached?

I can't seem to find a replacement board so I checked and replaced the resistors/capacitors on this board, also checked the button board and the power button. TV still doing the exact same thing. I'm really interested in fixing it, but If I can't do you know of any cheap rf modulators that would work on channel 60? lol

If you have noticed, the buttons are connected to a small board at the front which also takes inputs from the remote sensor. I believe this board is fried and that is the reason you are having this problem. Replacing that board should resolve your problem.

Did you try to replace the system IC? This IC controlls all the switches on the TV try to clean the pins and resolder.if not replace the IC to determine the IC just trace the connections of the control switches That is the system IC.

    hello sir
I have seen the picture that you attached.on your question the answer is yes!because the control switches are only the input commands. Once the system IC is partly shorted or theres a presence of statics cause by dirt's and dust the IC become unstable.check for The big IC that is near the input SWITCHES this IC process the command from the switches. All the connections from the input switches gone through this IC.If cleaning the IC doesn't work then time to replace the system IC. Thank you very much and good luck!

I am not getting picture on my TV it stic on only one channel we are chengiong channel but same sound is comming also we are getting a blue coloured K on right hand side of TV

That blue K means you are in the service mode. Unplug your set and wait 30 seconds. Then at the same time you plug it back in, you need to be holding the volume down button and the input button.
The TV should turn back and the blue K should turn pink. Once this happens, press the volume and channel down button at the same time. A menu should come on the screen. With your remote, press the up arrow to reach the nest page. The first option should say INIT. Arrow to the right and hit enter. In a few seconds your screen should turn green and say success. Unplug the TV and wait 30 seconds. Plug the set back in and turn on your TV. You can then set your set back the way you want.

Original remote lost. have universal remote. cannot program TV

On the right hand side of this television there are panel buttons. It appears that your son in law knocked the tv out of the correct input. Press the input button in order to cycle through the 5 inputs. Typically pressing the input button on the side panel of a television and pressing it again and again and again will make it change inputs. Universally the buttons on the tv panel function as follows: Channel up moves the cursor up. Channel down moves the cursor down. Volume + moves the cursor right. Volume - moves the cursor left.
Hope this helps

Advent Flat Screen with TV/AV Button Clicking & Lighting Intermittenly NO PICTURE

The fact that its clicking on and off tells me that theres probably a short in the horizontal sweep/output circuit of the set. You see when the set starts up the power supply detects a large current surge and shuts down. Some sets will try three times if this happens and then stop till the power is pressed again. It sounds like this set dosent have that way of operation. Its going to need a technician to look and troubleshoot the problem Good Luck
