Question about Kitchen Ranges

4 Answers

I HAVE A GE MONGRAM COOKTOP MODEL#ZEU36ARSF255 SER# RL7106310. THE BIG BURNER ON THE LEFT SIDE WHEN FACING THE COOK TOP IS MALFUNCTIONING. WHEN YOU TURN IT ON,THE CONTROL NUMBERS TURN ON (THAT IS LOW - HIGH) BUT THE BURNER NEVER TURNS RED. AFTER ABOUT 20 SECONDS IT GIVE AN F116 ERROR CODE IN THE TIMER PANEL, AND STARTS TO BEEP. THE ONLY WAY TO SHUT IT OFF IS TO HIT THE LOCK BUTTON, AND IT SHUTS OFF. I TRIED DISCONNETING THE POWER BY SHUTTING OFF THE BREAKER AND TURNING IT BACK ON AFTER 15 MINUTES, AND THE PROBLEM PERSIST. IS THERE A QUICK FIX, OR DO I NEED TO CONTACT MY WARRANTY PEOPLE. PLEASE ADVISE. CLIVE@DSTMIA.COM CELL 305-796-4899 THANKS & REGARDS CLIVE

Sounds like the burner control switch has malfunctioned. If it's still under warranty, go that route

GE Profile GSP40 cooktop hot burner indicator wont light up

This is obviously a loose connection in the panel that is flexed when you put pressure on the top. The rear panel needs to be opened and checked.

I want to lift the cook top on GE range jbp82shss so that I can clean out all the dust. can I do this

Yes. Disconnect power to range. Open oven door and remove hex head screws at front edge of cooktop from the bottom side. Lift up front of cooktop. Burner units can then be removed from the underside of the cooktop. Be careful not to damage the gray insulating material around the burner elements if you remove the elements from the cooktop glass.

Burner seems to be wired backwards

You have to access the underside of the cook top. Does the back right work correctly? If so switch the wires on the back left to match the right burner.

My ignitor on my ge cooktop keeps clicking slowly in off mode

As it relates to 5 burner gas cooktop Model Number JGP 963SEJ1SS
First - Ignite the flame then reduce the flame to between low and medium.  If the igniter continues to click, you most likely have a contact switch issue related to the problem burner.
Unplug the cook top and turn off the gas.  After the gas is turned off, disconnect the gas line.
Remove the cook top.

Unscrew and Remove ALL of the burner bases by lifting them up.  The ceramic igniters may be difficult to remove but they will come loose if worked out slowly.
Pull of the wire connected to the igniter.
Remove to cook top top plate from the base, exposing the internal gas valves and wiring.
All of the burners are wired in parallel.   Lift off and unsnap the casing of the problem igniter switch.  The repair may require something as simple as, 1- cleaning the contact strips, or 2- slightly bending the non stationary contact strip to keep it from coming in contact with the stationary contact when in the off position, or 3- replacing the switch.
Unless you comfortable and understand how electric systems and switches work, this is a job for a qualified repair person.

GE cooktop has porceline "popping" off literally.

Porceline (a coating over metal in this case) is actually a type of glass, and subject to fracture upon sudden thermal shock or physical stress. The part you indicate is WB62T10124 for a JGB939C1WW probably a bit over $150 or a WB62T10132 for a JGP939C2WW, probably a bit over $100, but the labor to replace it would be costly. If you rate this, please remember I did not manufacture this product, nor am I a GE employee, so please don't shoot the messenger.

Burner cap

The cook top should be bolted to the counter. Look under and look for brackets that attach the bottom of the cooktop to the sides of the counter. and also the model number should be somewere underneath. If you can get me the Model number I can get you the maintenance manual in PDF format.
