HI there,

Your information is most helpful. Unfortunately the fact that the system will not display on an external monitor is almost surely the sign that your video card has failed. If the card is soldered to the motherboard, the motherboard will have to be replaced. If the card is removable from a socket, another may be purchased and installed. I wish I could have given you better news.

Best Regards,

Selk

Lcd shut it down every 2 second

First to this: check the computer by hooking up an external monitor. If it stays on, then you are no doubt looking at a laptop monitor problem and not a general computer problem.
The most obvious thing to check it the power inverter that is in the laptop LCD assembly. The inverter is located below the actual screen. You'll need to disassemble the lid to the computer--separating the two halves and you'll see the inverter sitting just under the LCD screen. These are inexpensive and easily replaced. I'm thinking this will solve the problem.

When i turn the notebook on i can see nothing blank black screen

Sounds like one of two issues,

1. You have the internal display turned off. When you turn the laptop on you should hear a single beep. Do you see the Sony Logo during bootup? Have you tried to turn the display back on? Try pressing the Fn+F7, or Fn+F8, key combination. There are only three modes and these key combinations allow you to cycle through these modes. Either the Primary Screen is on, or the External Screen is on, or both are on.

2. You may have a bad video card or the screen is dead. When you power up the laptop, can you see a glow, but the screen is black? Can you see the Bootup Screen with the Sony Logo, but barely? Have you tried to connect an external monitor to the laptop to see if the video card is working? If you get video to the external monitor, the video card is working. If you don't, then the video card may be bad. If you are getting video on the external monitor, try using the key combinations listed above and try to cycle through your Internal/External display modes. If nothing shows up on the laptop display then the LCD screen may be bad. It could be the back light. Those are internal to the LCD. That means you will have to replace the entire LCD display on the laptop.

Hope that helps.

Lcd screen not working

Does the laptop bootup and the hard disk spin up?
To determine if the video card is faulty or the LCD screen is faulty, connect an external monitor to the external video port on the laptop. Power up the external monitor first and then the laptop, the video information should automatically switch to the monitor
If you get a normal Windows image on the monitor then the video card is OK and the fault is the :CD screen provided the laptops boots up properly.

Why are there hoizontal lines on my monitor

Does the horizontal line appear on the LCD screen on the laptop?
To check if the video card is faulty or the LCD screen connect an external monitor to the laptop's external video port, power up the external monitor first then bootup the laptop. The Windows will automatically switch to the external monitor if the video card is OK. If not then the fault could be the video cable cable/connector or the LCD screen.

No power on laptop screen

Hello,
The first thing to try is to hook up an external monitor to the laptop.
If the external monitor works then it is either the LCD screen or the backlight for the LCD. If not then it is probably the video card inside the laptop.
Also check the "function" (Fn) key combinations on the keyboard, you might have shut the screen off with the Fn keys accidentally.
Hope this helps.

Hp pavilion f1703 blue monitor power button flashesw/ dark screen

Have you tried connecting this monitor to another computer, even a laptop. This would tell you whether the display is bad or the video card is the culprit. I suspect the monitor's power supply is dying. Taking it to a pro for repair should cost @55.00. Buying a new monitor @ $100 - $125.

MONITOR KEEPS SWITCHING TO STANDBY

Either the power supply is going bad (power light will be orange or off when it goes dark) or the screen itself has the problem (inverter?). If the power button stays green but the screen goes dark, that'll be the problem.

If you get the windows splash screen and it goes black that would be an indicator that your backlight is bad. Try to hookup an external Monitor to determine this. Otherwise if you get no image at all even when you connect an external monitor. You need a new HD and must relaoad your OS, and all programs! Let me know!
