Hi, I have to replace the main housing on a makita 5007mg and can't get the field assembly out of the old housing. Any suggestions? I don't want to apply too much pressure and break something. Thanks

I overheated my Makita 9557PB angle grinder. I replaced the brushes. Bearings seem ok: the motor assembly turns freely, smoothly, and quietly. The running motor is slow, with a loud "grinding" sound.

Measure the value difference in Ohm between the carbon brushes on the armature there are some collectors in the commutator give an other ohm value if compared to other collectors in the comutator of the armature . if measure turn the blad very slow so the collectros can be positioned to measure the ohm difference. range to measure 0-200ohm on ohmmeter.
If only one brush made trouble ( much more sparking ) then the electric field is not in ohm value balance, control always if there are slide contacts used they are solid. on the field. Measure the difference. between the 2 field coils of the electric field . if its also different replace allways the field and the armature if thats also have problems (BUT DON,T FORGET to order a new drive gear for the armature and new brushes. !!!

I have a makita BSS 610 cordless saw that has stopped working I've taken it apart and the armature winding all looks fine I've changed the brushes and it still won't work! Please help??

VERY IMPORTANT to tell you MAKITA HAS MODIFICATED the switch assembly and battery connector !!!!! of this device .

If you have a saw with the 2 contacts in the connectorplate then the problem of an to early defect battery is possible by missing of a thirt protect connector to protect a to deep discharged battery .
The new switch assembly has 3 contacts a - and a + and the very important Low Voltage Disconnect contact that should shut off in one time the machine it looks like its defect but its not !! thats the protection and then only take the battery in the charger .
Because there must be a little dc in the battery left for the charger accept, if the battery is to low the charger will not accept the battery anymore then you will have to take the battery to someone with a special cadex charger to boost the dc again in or go to a special makita service , hold as much as possible the batteries on the charger to last the battery life. the best is if you have no protected 3 contacts connector to build it over Makita has moost of the time a little ridge on one side of the battery connector (marketing technical) because of the modification on the new connectorplate so it wont fit in the old housing hihihiiii but i
I just cut it off with pliers and file it smooth, its easy so I can just use the old machine housing again you need for modification IF YOU NEED ?? or you have the new 3 contacts machine already and don,t know before of the stop function by lowered battery. but otherwise you need a new switch and connector both.

How to gear spindle from housing

The unit is retained by two or three screws surrounding a retaining ring on the saw blade side, and I believe there are some screws holding the gear housing on the motor side that need to be removed as well. I just replaced the bearing on mine a week ago, and even though the situation is obvious once you figure it out I was not smart enough to do so, and wasted an hour trying to figure out how to remove that retaining ring over the bearing. Good luck

Brushes arcing

Brushes arc for several reasons. If the spring over heated and lost its tension or the copper line from the brush to the cap broke/burnt off or the brush wore down too far to be pressed on the armature properly. The replacement brushes you need are Makita part number CB-124. If you still have exessive sparking after replacing the brushes you may have a bad commutator on the armature. The only way to fix that is to replace the armature, Makita part number 512831-0.

I have a makita 7.25inch hypoid saw and cant get the field out of the housing. is there a trick?

Hi,

I hope I can help you with this.

When I have disassembled power tools in my woodworking shop, I have found that all seals, baffles, etc. have to be removed before you can get the windings out. If it was overheated, it sometimes is difficult also. Be sure nothing inside the housing is holding it in first.

Hope this helps,

Makita ML902 Flashlight how to open case housing to repair

Makita ML902 - great flashlight. but I wanted to upgrade the lamp to LED, and found that the POLARITY was wrong . so i HAD to open the dern thang. the 'special tool' and 'keep in-house' conspiracy had me 'fuming' ... turns out if one were to mark the EXACT spot that the pivot occurs with a felt pen, by drilling a small (sized) hole on each side, (stop as soon as the bit is thru! the shiney material that you stop at are lamp straps) then pressing 2 stiff objects from both sides, the head pops off ! one more screw is uncovered, making it an even 4 screws holding it all together. When i opened the case up, one wire wasn't even soldered to the switch ! aargh. so - swapped polarity, re-soldered the connections, add a bit of fresh solder, re-assemble, voila! I love the 9 volt cases, upgrading everything to 12v and 16v lithium 18650 cells. these old Makita ensembles are great! saw, drill, angle drill, light...
