Question about HP Photosmart D5069 InkJet Printer

When I plug the USB cable into printer, computer does not see the printer. I have tried two different cables and ports. HP Tech support told me that there is something wrong with the USB connection port on the printer. I have another printer plugged it in and it works perfectly.

Refresh the USB ports:
1. Right click MY COMPUTER
2. Select PROPERTIES
3. Select HARDWARE
4. Select DEVICE MANAGER
5. Select UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS
6. Right click on each USB CONTROLLER and select Uninstall
7. Uninstall all entries
8. Reboot your computer
9. As your computer re-boots it will reinstall all USB connections it detects
THEN, when all other USB items have been configured and connected by the system, you then should try connecting your USB drive

Set-up won't recognize that the USB cable is connected to both printer and computer and therefore printer won't work. What's up with that??


1. Confirm the USB port on the computer you are connecting your printer to is being recognized by your computer. The easiest way to do this would be to plug a known good USB Memory stick into the USB port you want to use. If you can read the contents of the USB Memory stick then the port should work. Remove the Memory stick, start the printer installation program (Make sure you don't the printer connected), want until the setup program tells you to connect the printer before you attach the Printer's USB cable.
If the printer isn't recognized try a different USB port, when picking a new USB port to try select a higher priority port, for example in increasing priority from, an external USB hub, a powered external hub, a monitor based hub, USB ports on the front of the computer, up to the USB ports at the computer rear. For USB ports on the same circuit select an USB 2.0 before an USB 3.0 port

My Officejet 5610xi All-in-One will not print from my computer. The printer tells me it is not connected to my computer


try to check the cable or the usb connection from the computer to the printer it must be loosing or not connected properly to the interface. Install the the driver camed with your printer to your computer to be able to use it.

My HP Laserjet 1020 powers on but now it's not recognized by my computer anymore. What happened & how can I get it to reconnect?


The solution to this problem is as simple as disconnecting your printer, going into CONTROL PANEL / PRINTERS AND SCANNERS, right click on the icon for your laser printer, then select "remove." Once you have removed the printer in the Control Panel, plug the printer back into your USB port, power it on, and it should plug & play from there.

Since you haven't used it after opening the box, the usb port's connectors must have got rust on them. Disconnect the cable, clean the usb ports on both the computer and the printer using a soft brush dipped in alcohol/acetone. Also clean the usb cable terminals with the same materials.

After they are dried, you can try the connection, if the problem persists, use another cable and try it on another usb port or if possible on another computer. You'll be able to find out the culprit.

Solution
For information on network communication problems or
communication problems involving a memory card, PictBridge camera, or storage
device, see the onscreen HP Image Zone Help. For more information on the

If your HP All-in-One and computer are USB-connected and are not
communicating with each other, try the following:
● Look at the color graphics display on the HP All-in-One. If the color graphics
display is blank and the On button is not lit, the HP All-in-One is turned off.
Make sure the power cord is firmly connected to the HP All-in-One and
plugged into a power outlet. Press the On button to turn on the HP All-in-One.
● Check the USB cable. If you are using an older cable, it might not be working
properly. Try connecting it to another product to see if the USB cable works.
If you experience problems, the USB cable might need to be replaced. Also
verify that the cable does not exceed 3 meters (9.8 feet) in length.
● Make sure your computer is USB ready. Some operating systems, such as
Windows 95 and Windows NT, do not support USB connections. Check the
documentation that came with your operating system for more information.
● Check the connection from your HP All-in-One to your computer. Verify that
the USB cable is securely plugged into the USB port on the back of your
HP All-in-One. Make sure the other end of the USB cable is plugged into a

● If you are connecting the HP All-in-One through a USB hub, make sure the
hub is turned on. If the hub is on, try connecting directly to your computer.

rear USB port speed from High Speed (USB 2.0) to Full Speed (USB 1.1).

● Try printing from a different application or a different file to determine
whether or not it is the file causing the printing issue.

Printer offline. Please confirm this could be due to faulty cartridges as told by technician,( checked through remote control), and that HP cartridges are guarenteed for 90 days. Could I solve the problem...

If the computer is showing you printer offline, then its either the printer cable is faulty or the USB port, so can you change the cable and try a different port?

Are you using the ethernet connection or a USB connection? If you are using USB, do you have the printer connected to a hub or directly to the computer? Does changing the cable to a different USB port get the computer to see the printer? If you are using a USB port in a hub, try a direct connection. Does the USB hub have power-transformer or is it powered by the computer? Printers are extremely sensitive to losing data when the cable run is too long or the USB hub has too many devices attached (particularly when powered by the computer). Also try a new USB cable. An additional troubleshooting test: turn off your printer for 30 seconds, unplug both sides of the USB cable and see if it is found when you plug it back in and turn it on.

If you are using an ethernet connection, check the cables for both the printer and the computer. Also try plugging the cables into different ports on your router or switch. I'm assuming you have your network working and have a IP address (if your network gives dynamic addresses). You might try repairing the network connection (right click on the network icon in the system tray in XP or Vista).

If these ideas do not help, I'm not sure what is causing your problem.. I hope this helps.

HP F2200 all in one/ usb


As you are receiving the USB device not recognized whenever you plug in the USB cable, the problem could be either due to the corrupted USB drivers on your computer or the USB cable needs to be replaced. Try updating your USB drivers and/or replace the USB cable. I am sure that the issue will be resolved.

Unplug the printer. After uninstalling the software make sure you delete the printer from Printers and Faxes! Try plugging it up again(don't install back the software just as yet), the New device found pop up should come up! if it doesn't then it could be the USB cable / the USB ports on the PC or the USB interface on the card! If it does , put the cd in the drive and select Install Drivers automatically(if its pops up) Also, Try using different USB ports if the new device pop up doesn't pop up! Test the USB ports by using a regular USB device in the same port you are plugging the printer into! A bad USB cable could be the issue but it can also be something else! You'll need to verify that its the cable, what you can do is try it with a cable that you know is fully functional! If you still don't get a response from the printer and everything else works(i.e. usb cable, usb ports) then it could be the USB interface on the printer! and you'll need to take it to a tech! Power surge on hub port error msg


The printer is the problem, obviously but, also try using a different USB cable to see if that doesn't help! When plugging up th cable, look for anything out of the ordinary! If changing the USB cable doesn't resolve the situation then it could be something shorted out in your printer and you need to take it to a service shop for repair! regards, babb
