Remove eight screws on the back of the TV. Three on each side and two in the middle (one on top and one on the bottom). The tricky part are the tabs. I used a plastic putty knife with a lot of bend to it. Once you pop a tab you can slide the knife around until you feel it stick then just wiggle it until you hear a pop. There are tabs all around the edges of the TV. I was able to remove the back panel without any damage. I am taking pictures today and will post them for more clarity.

I am taking off the back panel of my magnavox 32mf231d/37 hd tv. I was told by a guru to check the t-con board. Im not sure how to expose this part and could use some help.

Hello,

First, click on the below link in order to identify board. You will also find the part number and other information listed below the image of the T-con board. Also, if you wish to order, you can order direct from the link.

http://stores.orlandopc.net/-strse-3084/MAGNAVOX-T-dsh-CON-BOARD-1320WA01CCAA/Detail.bok

Note the TV stores electric current. So if you just turned off the TV, wait a while (30mins) before opening the back cover.

Now that you know the board that you are looking for, turn off the TV. Get a set of philips screw driver. Look at the back of the TV. Amongst the set of screw driver, look for the one that can fit into the screws holding the TV back cover, then unscrew all the screws.

You will find panels, inside the TV. Unscrew all screws holding the panel in order to get to the T-con board.

Take your time to study how the panels and board in the TV are fitted in, so that you can get them off easily.

Lastly, use a camera to snap the of the TV and each step you take as to removing any screw or disconnecting wires from the panel, so that it will be easy to fit them back to their right position in case you forget.

I hope the above is clear.

Regards.

Television model number 32mf231d/37 does not want to turn on

I have the same problem with the same tv and the problem almost always is at least one blown capacitor on the power board of the tv. U can see for yourself. (be sure the warranty is up for your tv first, if not get phillips to fix this for you) remove the back cover and then the metal top that cover the power board (you will see the red yellow and white AV plug jacks) in there is the power board, you can tell whether or not the capacitor is blown by looking at the top of it, it will be bulging out or leaking. This is an easy fix, u can get new capacitors from radioshack or stores similar to it.

Try taking it for a walk, or sing happy songs to it.
Depression is a common problem with today's LCD panels.
Most cases go untreated.
Talk to your doctor about receiving medication that may be able to help with it's symptoms. Side effects include nausea, diarrhea, genital warts, hemorrhoids, and an erection that lasts longer than 4 hours.
Do not watch your TV if yo are pregnant or using an MAOI, as these combinations have been known to cause permanent death.

WHAT TYPE OF REPLACEMENT CAPACITOR DO YOU USE FOR A MAGNAVOX TV MODEL NUMBER 32MF231D%2F37

If you are working in the switching power supply and need electrolytic, I would use PANASONIC FM series for very low ESR, High ripple current rating, 105c temp. Get them from www.digikey.com

An earlier post of the smaller model of this with the same problem said to remove the metal cover over the power supply.

I have the 26MF231D and it worked great afterward (even though you can't mount it)

Here is how you remove the cover.
